it is said that when a new-born comes into the world s/he brings all worldly knowledge of the past life with him/her. And as he grows up he slowly 4gets abt his past life, he doesnt 4get exactly but it drifts into the sub-conscious mind. Anyway, back on the topic, a baby generally smiles (and even cries) when he is reminded of things about his past life.

Hope that answers ure question. :D
Things are supposed to happen the way they happen. And the reason they happen the way the happen is because you try to make them happen in a certain way and may or may not be succesful.

'Coz they ARE babies.

They have nothing to worry about. They are content with themselves. They do not know anything about the world and things going on except that they know that they are with their loved ones.

And yes, they ACTUALLY sleep rather than letting sleep be a mechanical process where brain keeps working (like it does in grown-ups :-) )

In 'A Good Night’s Sleep', author Harvey Karp suggests a theory to account for the heart-melting smiles of baby sleep. “Contrary to myth, these grins are not caused by gas; rather, your baby is practising what will soon become his more charming and powerful social tool — his smile.”
Whenever you can't sleep
May you be treated to a song
And heaven cracks
A song falls softly from the light of heaven.

This is condradictory to what i've read. I read that babies really DO NOT need sleep, it slowly becomes a process as they are cultivated by parents. If a baby was not forced to sleep, it might even stay awake for 72-80 hours. Thats how medical interns are trained and that is how meds can be on their feet within few minutes. :?

But that was a good and amazing fact to know. Thanks Scorpion.
