I think it really depends on the topic which is posted. Something which calls for an interesting debate and exchange of views should not be spammed. However, sometimes when tempers get out of control, spamming can bring the atmosphere back to normal. It has happened before too.
Things are supposed to happen the way they happen. And the reason they happen the way the happen is because you try to make them happen in a certain way and may or may not be succesful.

Would people pease restrict spamming to dead topics, old topics or the SPBTs?

I was pointing out the fact that you do not spam. :?

Do you think any other members care a lot about their PC? Wile I may take objection to someone putting it to Zero, i would not care....

very few people start new threads here. there are members with 300+ posts who haven't actually started a thread, which i find bizarre. there's probably about 5 threads which have been regularly on the first page since i joined 6 months ago, and none of the discussion has anything to do with the thread title.

just a thought, but have any one you been to a board where they use the Karma system? it's supported phpBB for sure, but might be too much effort for the mods to implement. basically in boards like this, your PC isn't even displayed, rather your karma is. you can have good or bad karma, and people with very good karma are given extra privliges, such as being able to edit their posts, etc. people are incouraged to rate other users posts, your karma is worked out based on your reviews of others and others reviews of you. it's a fairly complex calculation, based also on length of post, number of posts, etc.

I know what are you talking abt Mark,I think Invision Boards and Proboards are two of the most popular Boards which implement these rules.Therein No one knows your Post Count, not even you maybe, but only your level is displayed underneath ur name by which ur seniority is gauged.

i think its the way to go, personally if i ran a board that'd be how i'd do it. karma is cool. hawever there's a lot of effort involved, you gotta vote for posts and all that. it works well on boards which are specific, like a boardf on Bikes, or Guitars, whereas this board has no focus beyond Hyderabad .

Spamming kills the whole discussion. And if its a serious and interesting topic, it loses continuity and importance.

I find Mark's idea of karma levels really intriguing. I've heard of Karma levels before but I completely paid no attention to it.

Now that we're discussing it to induct it in our own community, I think we should give it a serious thought. Can anyone give us links to websites that implements this system? We can try it out and then persuade the webmasters to chnage the boards in that direction.
