Chattisgarh -Raipur

by Sujatha » Sun Dec 19, 2004 1:21 pm

I had the wonderful opportunity this time to go to parts of Madya pradesh.

Presently called Chattishgarh.

In crowded unreserved compartment I some how landed in the Town Raipur

This is one of the newly formed states.

It has come out from Madya pradesh because of Tribal protests and demand for independent home state.

I came out of Railway station (South east central Railways)

So many Cycle Rickshaw pullers were waiting.

I got little bit surprised.

I want to know whether in hyderabad city Manual Cycle rickshaws were there earlier?

Still rickshaw is running here.

For just Rs12/- I travelled from Railway station to New Bus stand.

I got surprised to find Naiddo"s clinic and building at this Main Road.

At the bus stand To my shock I could not find even a single State government bus.

This I beleive the only state in India with out Government run Transport corporation Slowly I walked along the roads.

I found one Reliance Web World.

Alas there was no browsing available. No Java green shop.

Here 70 perecnt of the citizens are moving in the road side rubbing Pan Masala in their palms.

I was seeing so many buildings still in construction stage.

With some snacks like Kachori fry, Bread sandwich, vada, Aloo bonda, and Chai I finished my Lunch.

We came to the area called Pandri in my friend"s Old Maruti 800

I got Pleasant shock

Even in cities like Hyderabad you wont find such wholesale textile Market.

Here all kinds of Chudi, Salwar, and wollen materials are available.about 50 of Show rooms are there in a single place.

Wollen Blanket, Rajais, Mention Any varieties at cheapest rate are available.

We finally ended up buying Rajai with velvet finishing for Rs400/-

Softest wollen blanket for Rs 1100/-

The show room guys told me that RAIPUR IS SUPPLYING TEXTILES TO THE WHOLE STATE AND TO SOUTH INDIA ALSO

Night we had dinner at Bilai steel plant"s CIVIC CENTRE

Somebody suggested us That Jagdalpur is wonderful for Jungle marches. I told them that I have no time.

Chattisgarh is one of the few states in India which is not coming in the newses. But people here are leading more peaceful life than us.

I am Moving towards Konarak Now. I will come with latest there.

Well, you seem to have Glimpsed the Rustic India that is so abundant out there and which Is rarely seen or appreciated by City Peole.

I too am from a small town and even now i feel happy to be there

whenever I get the opportunity.Away from the city's hustle-bustle and chaos,a easy-go life is Pure Bliss.

Haven'nt visited Chattisgarh yet but have roaned around Bhilai n Durg areas in Madhya Pradesh. And I have also roamed around Jharkhand-Orissa Borders where even drinking water is as rare as Snow....

And I don't know abt Chattisgarh but even the state capital of Orissa,

Bhubaneswhar has'nt got a state-run Transport system.There are Inter-state n Inter-city Buses but no In-City Transport.

I had once gone to Mumbai's Crawford market and was literally Dumbfounded to see the textile market there.I don't know how big was Chattisgarh's but the Mumbai one had alsoms 800 shops all selling textiles.

That too Under the same roof...

My two cents to this post.

Since we are still in Chattisgarh, I thought I would recount a trip I made to Jabalpur - The Marble City. The primary objective for the trip was to take a visit to the Dhuadhar Falls. Narmada looks so awesome when it falls from that height. It is almost like the Grand Canyon (though I have never seen that), except for the fact that it is a hundred times shallower. But, man, what a sight!

PS: What's up on these boards anyway?

No. Just do your thing - lie, cheat, deceive, kill, hack, curse... you get the idea.

Huh? Virus? The devil is beyond all those petty things. Besides, a Virus has too many dependencies to tackle.

Ever wondered sometimes why no matter what you do your webpages just do not load? Ever wondered sometimes why Yahoo is down? Ever wondered sometimes why you don't have, um, Power at your place? Who do you think does that?
