How did you discover FH? & What made you get on the FHDB

by Reality,,its here.Accept it. » Mon Dec 13, 2004 1:34 am

I was posting and spamming most of the day today and I realised that since the day I visited the FH site first I have been coming back again and again.

So I was thinking about why I browsed the site the first time and what made me notice the dbs and take part in them.

So here are the 2 questions I want to ask all the people who see this thread....

What were you looking for when you first browsed through the FH site?( why did you first visit this site?)

&

What was the topic you posted your view on the first time on the FHDBS?

> My answers to the above 2 questions are..

1. I visited the FH site first when a friend of mine browsed it for information about movie theater - whats showing where lists.

2. The first topic I first posted on was the 'spitting incident' thread by 'arti'.

So lets here from the folks.....

Its been more than a year and half since I've been posting here, so I dont remember exactly how I stumbled on Fh, but AFAI remember, I was searching for some city related news and was linked to FH. I liked the article and started exploring the site and discovered the DB.

Initially I thought that the DB would be full of immature 15 yr olds looking for 'girl friends' - people like Raj- as is the case with many other forums, but was surprised to find mature discussions and I sticked around. The original format was very user unfriendly, AFAI was concerned and it still needs the edit function, but the mods think otherwise.
May the Fries be with you!

I agree MM that this is one DB that has mature arguements going on along with fun filled banter. I guess its the people on the boards who make this one of the highly addictive 'sites'(couldnt think of a better word), right up there besides caffiene and nicotine.

I noticed this site when I was googling for B Ed colleges in hyd......I got conected to the 2003 year review by the FH team. That review was Hilarious. so i decided to explore more and came to da DB. here i read a few threads like "facts abt. gandhi family....." "how much u know abt Hyd"...then got hooked on.

Initially was a bit argumentative....but now I come here for funnn 8)

Its almost been a year since I stumbled upon the FullHyd website. It was when I was engaged (Im not anymore btw, its off) and I was researching places to visit in Hyderabad when I visit. It all took off after then. I forced my 2 sisters to become members as well, and we've all enjoyed everyday on the board. You guys rock!! :P
Is that a pistol in your pocket, or are you pleased to meet me?

see that guys! those interested can make their moves now...:D

i first visited FHDB abt 2 yrs ago to get some reviews of movies running in town...and i was hooked by the funny reviews (i still am...keep it up team!)

i discovered FHDB sometime later and used to just go thru the various discussions. some discusion abt religion made me start posting and i think it was in september 2002....the rest is Divine History 8)

from among the other members of those days, i see only mayavi n HP post regularly now. ZC and Fiddler are not seen anymore and i think the change of the DB to the current format confused and put off various old members.
wtf? i no longer care if my posts hurt yr feelings

this one's lot better, but initially it was confusing for ppl who were used to the old format. i was confused in the beginning too and rarely posted the first month aftre change (jan2003). i took some time to orient myself and restarted again!

i think HP stopped posting for a long time aftre the change and resumed only a few months ago.

I used to visit wowhyderabad.com and hyderabad.com, and man, the people there were mostly Rajs :D The guys would say "Hi. I'm handsome, well-built male 5'6" well endowed seeking highly educated female from good family for friendship" and that kind of crap, of course without any grammar or punctuation!

And one fine day (in 2000) those sites got gobbled up, and in 2001 or 2002, fullhyd.com emerged out of nowhere with a crappy design (they still have a few stray pages with that old design). The then regular members used to post a lot of socially useful messages and it made a lot of sense, unlike the spam thats here now, in every board.

I think these boards are still very immature, but compared to the Indian boards scenario a few years ago, its better now.

[b] I agree with you LW , the spam is getting to intolerable levels. And i feel responsible to for the state of affairs. Atleast I think i can do my bit for the boards by refraining from spamming anymore. I hope to stick to the resolution .. and make it into a firm new year resolution. Thanks for making me think of something that was already at the back of my mind.
