firstly, why did you download and not buy the CD/Cassette?

Secondly, it certainly is not Rahman's best or even close to it. Its easy music which even folks like Pritam are churning out. Rahman has done a better job in the past. The Title song Rang De Basanti has amazing rhythm and the song would become a regular in pub on desi nights for a long time.

The slow numbers are a drag, they lack Rahman melody and perhaps these are only few melodies that rahman has composed without using flute as the primary.

There are basically 4 numbers that may become a temporary hit 1. The title song 2 and 3. Paathshaala which is a rather interesting rhythm but not the kind that would be a trend setter. 4. Then there is Khalbali, a rather arabic sound that gets a little irritating without beer.

For me its still 1. Dil Se 2. Swades...

Overall 6/10

The Onkar song is more of a gurbani than anything else....

I liked roobaroo! the tone jus' grows on u as you keep listening to it!The sarfaroshi chant in one of the song sticks out like a sore thumb! Also the tune is eerily similar to the 'al madath maula' in Mangal Pandey!

khalibali & rang de basanti are the Hummable ones and will be Hits if not Superhts!

Ya the music does rock, but still lacks the freshness that rahman used to bring. The sorta sound that was truly different. RDB is peppy and dance floor material, but not 'rahman fresh'. Wonder if this is because of the pressure of a 'come back'.

Cuz' if you see, newbies like pritam are bringning new sounds and mixing them well. I just hope RDB does'nt get lost in the crowd where Bluffmaster,Zinda and couple of other well mixed and hip stuff.
