Sports journalism at its poetic best!!

If you like sports columns and if you havent read this yet, I highly recommend reading this

Cut down in full flight

The Title was so apt too!! Sachin was playing so freely after a long time.

Best part of the column

Tendulkar, though, will have no part to play in what promises to be an intriguing penultimate day. A few weeks from now, jealous mediocrity will crawl out of the woodwork and nibble at his reputation, citing that inability to apply the finishing touches. In a democracy, that must be tolerated, as were the Philistines who mocked and persecuted Galileo. Only those who sat and watched a gorgeous sunrise obscured by a man-made storm can appreciate how close a supreme batting artist came to painting in the one blank space in an otherwise breathtaking canvas.

thats a good article illai..

tendulkar has got bad decisions several times in his life but y'day he seemed so pissed-off ... quite rightly tho since he was playing like at his best after a long time.

Bucknor uncles' liking for bad decisions against india got the better off him y'day. he was umpiring so well till that point.

Apart from yest. incident , in 1999 Sachin waz controversially ruled as OUT..

by Bucknor...! Though Bucknor is a v experienced umpire...but wid humanz judgin therz alwayz room for error.

But wht I really like about Sachin is tht no matter how unfair da decision might b i dnt think i've ever seen him ..arguing...or as much as gesturin wid disapproval towards da umpires...he simply walks off wid Dignity!

Switching back to Sports Journalism......Hindu writes some amazing articles, most which should be preserved and read when we need inspiration in our lives.

Some of my fav are

Steve Waugh Tribute

one about Michael Schumacher winning a race after his father died

Michael Jordan Sportstar Edition

and the headline from about8 years ago when India toured West Indies....it said "West Indian Pace Battery Blows India's Fuse".

Its articles like those which make a kid swear to take sports more seriously than what it seems.

September 11, 2005

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Manny Pacquiao of the Philippines, reacts after his sixth-round knockout of Hector Velazquez, of Tijuana, Mexico, during their WBC Super Featherweight bout at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Saturday, Sept. 10, 2005.

Pacquiao stopped Hector Velazquez by technical knockout in the sixth round of a scheduled 12-round super featherweight bout.

Pacquiao, 28, of Kibawe, Phillipines, trapped Velazquez against the ropes three times in the sixth round, finally bringing him to his knees in the final second.

The referee began the count, and Velazquez slowly stood up but could not continue and the fight was stopped.
