A Rose by Any Other Name...

by Jaan » Thu Oct 28, 2004 4:00 am

Disclaimer: If this has been discussed before on this board, I do apologize! :)

I was thinking of names in general and the personalities behind it.

Is there a correlation between a name and certain type of personality?

I have noticed that people with the same first alphabet tend to share certain personalities traits...

For example: People with names starting with letter "A" are individuals with strong morals and ethics, are hardworkers, sometimes a bit stubborn, take initiative and stick to a decision. Perhaps my views on A letter names are prejuiced by my father, whose name starts with letter A. But curiously, of the A people I know: Adam, Aaron, Akash, abdul etc. seem to be of that type.

Agree or Disagree? Noticed this yourself with another letter?

Any comments?

Interesting angle. Never tried to find a name connect between me and people similar to me. Will do so from now on.

One reason for this could be that in Hindus, people are generally named according to their moon sign (each moon sign has a few syllables that correspond to it and the names of people born under that moon sign are given names starting with those syllables.

I've never tried to associate a persons character to the first alphabet of

his/her name, but I am usually attracted to girls whose name starts with 'S'

All my ex-gf's and crushes names started with S :)
May the Fries be with you!

Igiveadamn > Actually these are my personal views and experiences...I can certainly google it for you!

I do have other funny things I observe on other alphabets...will post them later though.

HP > Back to the Hindu naming ceremony etc. I was talking of general population inclusive of Christians and Muslims etc etc.

You can start observing your family members traits and compare them with people you know in workplace etc I think that would be a great place to start.

CAD > I am not surprised you feel that way! You come across as Type A personality. :)

MM > Really? Poeple with letter S? Let me then what kind of people they are since you seem to nkow so many of them.

Moving on: The Letter "P" people!

They come across as passinate individuals, very nice, sometimes a bit bubbly chracters. They enjoy a good joke and like finishing something they have started. The women with letter P, I have noticed have attractive facial features...the way they conduct things are homely in a sense...a bit traditional etc. Examples: Everyone knows a Preeti or Pooja, Padma, etc etc

Pn the guys side, they tend to be a bit homely in their attitude too.

Is your name Mohammed? Just a wild guess, Wizzy.

Hmmm....Surprisingly, I know a lot of them with them M names.

Monica, Mona, Mo (Mohammad), Misbah etc...

People with M are very pretty (girls) and guys are pretty hot looking. They come across as drama queens or kings, meaning they whine and coddle to get their own way for things.

They are not as romantic as their signnificant others/partners would like them to be...they are creatures of spontaneous combustion (yes, I made this phrase up).

They are quiet for a while and boom! something is up with them, something that excites them and they tend to put all their energy towards it...kinda like they get high when they feed on chocolate or something.

M people are very tight with money unless when it is time for their big spenditure moments.
