Was it the Coca-Cola Cup at Sharjah in 2000? I guess so. Gawd! Who can ever forget those gems from the Little Champion. Blistering back-to-back hundreds against the mighty Australians that got us the Coca-Cola Cup. Tony Grieg, Greg Chappel, Ian Chappel, David Hookes... seasoned commentators, who are kinda stingy on waxing eloquence to batting or bowling performances by non-Australian cricketers, went crazy that day, ran out of superlatives to describe those innings. India beat Australia 2-1 at home in the 1998 test series. Sachin Tendulkar set the tone by smashing a double hundred against the Aussies at Mumbai. In that season, he scored more than 1000 first-class and ODI runs agains the Australians. In the three test matches, he scored 446 runs with two hundreds and one fifty at an average of 111.50! India beat Australia 2-1 at home in 2000. Sachin Tendulkar scored a marvellous 116 at Chennai in the decider test, which India won to win the test series. In that series he scored 278 runs in 3 matches with a hundred and two fifties at an average of 46.33 His record against the Australians: TEST: 15 MATCHES, 1406 RUNS, HS:177, SIX 100s, FIVE 50s, AVE:44.07 ODI: 35 MATCHES, 1666 RUNS, HS:143, SIX 100s, SEVEN 50s, AVE:47.60 I have listed Sachin\'s performance agains the mighty Australians only. He has played many a great innings against other teams, but then you guys would say that the opposition was not strong enough! I am sure, any captain would love to have him in his side.
