The best patriotic songs ever

It\'s the time when the entire nation is united for one cause - Iraq! No, not that, it\'s the Cup 2003. What would be the songs that would best ignite the hidden jingoism in you? I say, Mere desh ki dharti and A R Rahman\'s Vandemataram, two diametrically opposite moods - one soothes while the other pumps the blood.

The top five must haves 1. A R Rahman\'s Masoom - a single added later to Vandemataram\'s US Special edition. This song was performed by Rahman on the eve of 50 years of Indian independence. An absolute must - brilliant number, particularly in full blast 2. A R Rahman - Vandemataram - This redefined version did run into controversy, but later it was all forgotten. A great score for all of us with mixed beliefs. 3. Ae mere watan ke logon (not log on!) - Lata Mangeshkar - If properly sung this brings out the true Indian in you (if there is anything left out). 4. Hum logon ko samaj sako tho - Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani - Original soundtrack - Now, this is absolute kickass in terms of the lyrics, a brilliant song depicting the typical Indian. 5. Bharat hum ko jaan se pyara hai - OST - Roja - All of you living abroad try and grab the various artists\' combined \"Jana gana mana\" - not a great album, but it\'s a must for collectors.

Yess Folks, all these songs make our hearts wet and our collars rise. But for me, \"Vandemataram\" is the BEST (old is gold!) Isn\'t it??

A. R. Rehman\'s Vandemaataram? I say it\'s all bullshit. Why do you actually want to kill such great already composed songs? Trying to prove something? Yeah, we all know he is a great musician... but that doesn\'t make him so great as to re-tune such a song. In fact, all these remixes... I think they all have to be banned. Not by those who make them but by us who listen and give them such a hype. Did anyone ever remix our National Anthem? Will they be spared? In fact, I think we all love Vandemataram more than our National Anthem... and there were many incidents when people have said that Vandemataram must have been our NA bcoz it\'s touching lyrics. Anyway, all I want to say is... I don\'t think we should encourage these attempts. My pickup and one of my fav. patriotic songs is \"Hain preeth jahan ki reeth sadaa\".

There are nearly 15 songs that I really like, many of which have already been mentioned... But if I were list five, they\'d be: 
1. Ae mere watan ke logon... 
2. Ab tumhare hawale watan saatiyon... 
3. Yeh desh hai veer jawanon ka... 
4. Jahan daal daal pe sone ki chidiya... 
5. Bhaarat humko jaan se pyaara hai...

A R Rahman\'s Vandemataram was NOT a remix for your information. He just used the word \"Vandemataram\" and composed a high voltage anthem. To prove this point, he also kept two versions of the original Chatterjee song. If he had tampered with the original composition, the album would have been banned even before its launch. Anyway, catch \"Massom\" sung by Rahman, it\'s amazing!

the best i feel is played by Parikrama(rock band) and the whole stadium ROCKS!!
