Admins: We surely need an edit option....didyu see the typos in my previous post? And then you go and have dedicated boards which give people tips on good writing. Sheesh

By the way, to all Asimov fans, "I, Robot" is being made into a movie which will come out sometime in the last quarter of this year. It stars Will Smith.

Jasz, I said Mullholland drive is a ridiculous movie because it doesnt fit my definition of Movie. I am not questioning david lynch's creativity or anything ( if you see another thread started by me, I posted abt M Dr as a variety movie), its just that there is no explanation for the story. All we have is possible explanations. IMO that is not a movie. If we give possible explanations, every telugu movie is a masterpiece! How can Bala krishna levitate? How does Mega Star beat the crap out of lorry load of bad guys?
Anyway, we differ, let it be that way. Peace out.

Regarding my name, it will be Morpheus' name when I remake Matrix as Matrika in telugu. I even picked an actor for that role - Prakash Raj. Dont ya love it. I was liberated/awakened after watching Matrix. So I decided to remake it in telugu. I have the script ready. All dialogues are in telugu. Neo (Anderson) is Subbu (Subba Rao). Srikant will be playing this role(NTR Jr. may replace him). Trinity is Trinethri. Saundarya will be playing this role (again, we are in talks with Aarti Agarwal). Tank (Totti), cipher (cheepuru) etc have to be picked. You can apply.
Sample Dialogue:
In Matrix II, Agent to Neo: Mr Anderson.....Surprised to see me?
In Matrika, that'll be : Shri Subba Rao Garu, Aaasharya Poyara Nannu chusi?

No, I havent seen any telugu movies after Yuva Ratna Bala Krishna's Palnati Brahmna Naidu. I was re-liberated. I dont want to get out of that bliss.

The story writer in me is now dead with shame as I couldnt think of a story anywhere close to PBN. I dont think I have any chance in Tollywood.

the way aarti is looking these days, she is more suited to play Tank, coz she's even beginning to look like one!

btw, dont u think Prakash Raj wud make a good Agent Smith? or Pavan Kalyan a good Neo????!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nooooooo!!!! Say it 'aint so!!! Will Smith??? (Goes into a fit of coughing and choking)

But, hey, 'I, Robot' is a series of short stories, a lot of them completely unrelated. How're they going to make them into a movie?? I'm curious as to how they're going to do 'Runaround', though, or 'Little Lost Robot' for that matter. Maybe they're going to use Susan Calvin to string the whole thing together. I hope she's not played by Will Smith, though ;)

LOL @ Will Smith as Susan Calvin.

Bridget Motnahan (last seen in Colin Farrell's The Recruit) will play Susan Calvin.

Will Smith palys Det. Del Spooner.

The summary of the movie is thus.....

Set in a future Earth (2035 A.D.) where robots are common assistants and workers for their human owners, this is the story of "robotophobic" Chicago Police Detective Del Spooner's (Smith) investigation into the murder of Dr. Miles Hogenmiller, who works at U.S. Robotics (run by Greenwood), in which a robot, Sonny (Tudyk), appears to be implicated, even though that would mean the robot had violated the Laws of Robotics, which is apparently impossible. It seems impossible because.. if robots can break those laws, there's nothing to stop them from taking over the world, as humans have grown to become completely dependent upon their robots. Or maybe... they already have? Aiding Spooner in his investigation is a psychologist, Dr. Susan Calvin (Moynahan), who specializes in the psyches of robots...

Hmmm. Don't recall anything like this in 'I, Robot', but will check, just to be sure.

Sounds more like a combination of 'I, Robot' and 'The Caves of Steel'. Lessee what my dekko into the world of Asimov reveals...

Honorable Dudes azazel PSD and Beatzophreniac,

Having just seen Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke in quick succession, I have fallen under the Hayao Miyazaki spell. The Spirit of the Anime World refuses to release my soul unless I see more of Miyazaki's work. The Spirit plans to torture my soul by tying me to a chair and making me watch Titanic until my brain explodes. That doesnt give me much time. Does it? So please save my life force by giving me more Miyazaki.

Help!!

azazel wrote:OK..since u asked for a discussion...
first up, nuthin bad in the list u got there... ill start from the beginning..
GBU, definitely one of the best westerns ever made.. Sergio Leone at his striking best.. gritty, witty, the quintessential western..
The Godfather..what can be said that hasnt been said before?? for me it has to be Parts 1 n 2 together.. awesome..
n now comes the bad part..
Scarface?? definitely not in the same league..Al Pacino was totally over-the-top all with that not-so-convinving Cuban accent..Brian De Palma made a good movie but it worked more for the shock value with the 182 'F' words [Blink 182 ne1?] n inspirin a desi version Agnipath with a very caricaturish Big B..havent seen Serpico but IMHO Al Pacino was the best as Michael Corleone, esp. in Part 2
[\quote]
Serpico is wonderfully crafted. But voicing MY opinion, I liked Scarface. Yeah, Blink 182 - about 182 'F' words in Scarface, but I don't think that's true. Lots of stoires around reg. 182. Serpico is better than Scarface but it doesn't leave an impression. "I'm Tony Montana, you F with me, you F'ing with the best". Sure.
Die Hard is a very well made action entertainer..but the best? uh uh.. lotsa action flicks out there that keep ur pulse racin n adrenaline pumpin!
[\quote]
Die Hard pumps me up everytime I see it - others don't.
Indiana Jones...mmm..havent seen ne of those..no comment
[\quote]
Shame on you man!! Indy and Last Crusade is damn good. Harrison Ford, Sean Connery, Speilberg, George Lucas...what else can a movie have?
Goodfellas will always be in my top 3 gangster movies of all time...much better than Scarface in every department...well acted, directed[Oscars suck for not handin the trophy to Scorsese for this one], immensely entertaining..n Joe Pesci, curses n all...earned that Oscar..one question, was he Funny??

Sure Joe Pesci was funny. Try Casino and Joe's funny in Goodfellas, esp. the scene where he pisses off Ray Liotta.
Raging Bull..Robert De Niro rox in every movie but here he gives one of the best demos of his method acting prowess..from the lean, mean fightin machine to the older n 40 pound heavier retired boxer..he is just amazing..Scorsese' best? dun think so..U were very vocal abt Scorsese being absent from my pal' list..dunno how u missed Taxi Driver n The Last Temptation of Christ...

Taxi Driver sure is a materpiece but not compared to Raging Bull. De Niro created a record for "most weight gained for a movie" till "Full Metal Jacket" came along. Sorry, didn't see Last Temptation of Christ.
Outlaw...whatever..havent seen it
[\quote]
Outlaw Josey Wales. IMO, it's an end to "everything goes fine for the hero - he rides his horse back home while the sun sets" John Wayne movies. A cowboy ain't a good boy ;)
Rocky..i agree with jasz, totally unnecessary sequels..but $$ is more imp. i guess...

Not just the $s, the training Sly went through for the sequels is amazing. I mean, how can a guy tear up his heart muscle 'cos of pumping iron? :O Boy, I wish I had such will-power.
ok, till here, i would've said ok..good 'nuff..n then Saving Pvt. Ryan comes in n spoils the fun...+ u praise it by sayin best-war movie ever!
biggest mistake ..'cept for the exteremely well-shot close combat sequences..the movie's got nuthin goin for it..everythin else had been done before n in a much better way..its a pity that ppl didnt go n see The Thin Red Line, which was unfortunately released at the same time... infinitely BETTER..Terrence Mallick is a genius..too bad only made 2 movies in 3 decades..

I saw both of them. In fact, I saw TRL before SPR. I even got both of them on my comp. right now. I'll go of SPR everytime.
but, the botton line is they are ur personal favourites..n vry1's got an opinion..if u had posted em has top 10 movies..i'd have kicked ur arse or died laughing..hehe
Ciao.

Thanks. If it came to that, you'd have ended up kissing it :-)

too many quotes n unquotes above, so:

Scarface..as i said i didnt like it much, Serpico..havent seen..

n that 182 F words thing is true, lots of stories..u tell me..

Die Hard's damn good..sure it pumps u up, i got bored..

Indiana Jones..adventure movies r not my kinda thing, i dun think im missin much..im shameless btw..

Taxi Driver IS a masterpiece, Raging Bull is no less a movie tho.. abt that record for 'most wt. gain' 'til Full Metal Jacket, who's the record holder??

didnt see LTOC, shame on ya!

Outlaw, made a point to watch it..along with The Searchers!

Sly is a good actor n if he went thru hell to get under the skin of the character he was playin..im all for him..but the movies kinda suck!

The Thin Red Line is brilliant.. SPR is just America, the great!

I dont kiss ass, kickin it wouldnt be a problem!

aaah revivin this topic after quite some time..

where r u Jasz my friend??

saw John Woo's Ben Affleck/Uma Thurman starrer Paycheck today...

it re-affirmed my belief that Hollywood n John Woo arent made for each other..

for the uninitiated John Woo is a celluloid genius IMHO esp. as a maker of hard-hitting action cinema ..

his beautifully choregraphed action sequences, good story-lines and high octane action movies in Hong Kong packed with his trademark philosophical dialogue/ Western-inspired stand-offs/ bullets n bodies that take super computers to count .. all supplanted by good acting esp. by Woo regular Chow Yun Fat made his movies memorable n devoured by action movie fans like muah

but Hollywood has more or less deprived him of his creative freedom as an improviser and thus led him to make stale run-of-the-mill actioners , point being Broken Arrow/Face Off/MI2 n now Paycheck..

hope he gets over his seduction by Hollywood n go back to where he can truly kick some ass.. 'Kong

Hello people.. new here....

i guess a lot of the movies that you guys mentioned would be on my list of favourites... few more that i'd like to add..

primal fear(solely for ed norton), se7en(kevin spacey and brad pitt when he's coming to terms with spaceys final crime), braveheart(mel gibson). the haven(buddy flick), reality bites(best chic flick ever), american beauty(a very depressing movie) and a few more that i can't quite remember..

so whats the deal with clockwork orange??? heard lots but never got to see it though.. doubt if i will get the cd somewhere.....
