as of now the quota system is our HH sar. players are selected on merit. currently the pblm lies with the 'special' treatment meted out to senior players and the lack of chances for newbees.

Er, i dont know how far the money bags thing is true becoz if u look at the current team its quite similar to the one that was wrld no. 2 till early 2004...the pblm is more abt team spirit than nething else. our selectors are much better now than they were 3-4 yrs back.

The lankans alomost always win at home, their real test will b when they tour overseas where their record is quite pathetic.

I beg to differ wit you Vamsi.... I like to see Shoaib spear in and make the batsmen smell leather tats how fast bowlers shld be ( i mean genuine fast bowlers).... There is no better site in cricket when you see fast bowler bowling agressively and beating the hell out of the batsmen.... I fear India does not have any of tat kind....

Shoaib, Lee, Shane Bond, Harmison.... they add charisma to cricket.....

Akthar averages 23 with the ball with a tremendous strike rate of 30 tats like 2 wickets every match at an economy of 4.5 isnt tat gud for a guy who bowls tat fast....

in tests he has 144 frm 36 at a strike rate of 44 i think tats a very gud record....

Lee,Bond,Harmison are all devastatin fast bowlers and make their presence felt in most of the matches they play

Tthe glory doesnt last long dude.... they are very much prone to Knee N Ankle injuries and it would be the end of career. Its not with the pace you beat the batsmen but with intelligence. Comapre Mcgrath and Shoaib whoz realiable ? Any given day Mcgrath ofcourse.

We here in the Midwest Cric Conf have a similar bowler Raheel Akthar. The other day he bowled a ball that went thru the wiser. Hez superbly fast for this level of cricket. The fastest bowler in the league is suppose.

Thou hez not realiable. He was hit for 20 odd runs many a times and hardly completed his spell

Well wat you said is rite Vamsee but pace is wat attracts ppl.... would you like to see 6 singles in an over or a SIX and 5 dot balls .... most of thm wld prefer the later....

You would be bored to see McGrath bowling the same line and length.... even though he is the most succesful.... yes pace is not everythin swing and variations are very important....

On any day i wld like to see shoaib or lee steamin rather thn McGrath....

Wasim Akram with a curtailed run up wld stick the speed gun upto 90mph evn whn he was well over 30.

If you say intelligence is everythin thn Wasim Akram wld be better than McGrath in my book....

Wasim Bhai is too intelligent .... he can bowl 6 diff balls in an over Sachin.

I am talking of the present genre. Wasim bhai tho retired hai...He is one of my fav devastating bowlers. A six for me would be more frustrating than 6 singles.

My point exactly!

in this series itself we have seen whos bowled better. the sooper fast bowlers or the shrewd medium pacers like pollock.... Akhtar got hit all over the park!

Agreed fast bowlers look gr8 steaming in frm a long runup... but they also get hit all over the park...can prove really costly at times....thats the price they pay for pace (accuracy)...

Australia are Super Champions
Australia fast bowler Brett Lee ripped the top off the World XI's batting line-up to lead his side to a 156-run victory in the third and final One-Day International of the Super Series on Sunday.

The win completed a clean sweep for the world champions at Melbourne's Docklands stadium after 93 and 55-run victories in the previous two matches.

Lara was a waste too....

but on the other hand.. they lacked the passion, as a team... its like no one in general would be blamed for teh team defeat, just like every other world 11 playing every other time, anyway... i am happy the aussies are back to prove that they are the best in the world.

well thot the ream was announced a little too late coz of which they cldnt gel properly. but the team composition had mjaor loopholes...wonder what sunny gavaskar will have to say abt that...

talkin abt the aussies, well they lost a series after a long time and ppl. thot they were finished. they've been rightly proved wrong.
