If Saurav is past his peak, Sachin and Dravid too should have been out of the team by now. Remember Sachin's slump in form that lasted more than 2 seasons? Or maybe Rahul's loss of form when his house in Bangalore was pelted with stones by the very people who were happily burning Saurav's effigy in Rahul's favour?

I was talking about his slump in form when he was captaining India. Dunno if you were following his career or not then but that was a slump in FORM and worse than what Ganguly is facing now. The final outcome was that he "stood down" as captain, but retained his place in the team.
I wish to differ here HP sar, Sachin did go thru bad patches...but they never lasted as long as ganguly's has...i dont remember seeing sachin out of form for more than a series...Peeved HP wrote:I was talking about his slump in form when he was captaining India. The aussies hardly lost under mark taylor's captaincy...except when they came to India in 98...but they did win the last test thenHP wrote:As for Mark Taylor, do you remember the two seasons prior to Mark's classic 334? He was barely managing double figures. We often tend to mistake Aussie selectors as being very tough and chucking people out without giving them second chances. The fact is that the Aussie selectors are also very patient with players and don't look just at figures while selecting teams. They have a very strong players' union too which helps to a great extent.

AFA Ganguly is concerned, i think he should not block even a player of Kaif's caliber in test matches...I think - currently- Ganguly cannot get into the indian test team. I think there is a plan by the board atleast to split the captiancy for test and one day matches (cricinfo reports)...The last innings of substance played by Ganguly was 144 against australia 2 years ago.
Even i was an avid fan of ganguly until last year. Bt it is his attitude which is bad and refuses to change. The manner in which he saw grass on the nagpur and decided to fake an injury was a shame really. People might still support Ganguly, it is ok, but spare a thought for Rahul Dravid. his position in the team depends on the whims and fancies of the selectors and Ganguly. Imagine if gangu had a similar guy as his vice captian, that would have been much more intresting![]()
Ganguly in ODIs...yes I would prefer to give him one last chance. Ideally i would say to him that you would be playing all the 12 one days coming up against sri lanka and SA. i think most of ganguly's success in ODIs is due to improvization. Improvisation needs confidence which is an unknown entity to him now. So i wud prefer to giv him 1 last chance to get his confidence back.
About Chappel, it is very simple. During the selection process of the coach, Chappel gave a very nice PPT presentation on a gud looking laptop. He said "Commitment to excellence" was his motto and he wud improve the overall standards of the team. Even a half astute person would have told all these but what won the job for chappel was the respect he commands, his straight forward thinking and may b a bit of politics in the BCCI as well. But, Whats happening now is there for every1 to see. His email has been reduced to a mere joke and ganguly offers a point by point rebuttal to itWondering why that never got published

Personally I would belive chappel when he says that some players have lost faith/confidence in ganguly's leadership and all is not well within the team at the moment. Perhaps we need a sting operation to find out the "inside" story
