Don't I see a quintessential indian cricket fan here? Loads of gaalis; gpl's from donkeys and what not when the team is not doing well. And when they go out there against all odds and make mincemeat of those seemingly invincible till now pakis, all the team gets is a single line post.

We have no right to be ultra-critical of the team when we're not sincere in congratulating the team on their good performances and supporting them through lean times.

Anyways, back to the discussion.

Match 2 was a classic show of character by the Indians. They first burst the bubble of the paki top order having mastered the indian bowling by snaring out 4 wickets within 65 runs. Though its true that the bowling did lack the firepower to pack the pakis by capitalising on the dream start, they did well to bowl within their limitations and around their strengths. On a pitch where another 300+ score was an easy possibility, they restricted Pakistan to a modest 265. And then the Indian batting top order displayed their true pedigree with the top 4 batsmen notching up good scores with high strike rates. And the fielding was top notch with Suresh Raina reminding one of Azharuddin, the classiest India ever had in the field.

Bottomline - India goes into match 3 the more confident team. Pakistan will have to show the same character displayed by the Indians today if they have to stop the Men in Blue now.

Just one question. I cannot see the match live on TV where I live, but why did Dravid replace Ajit Agarkar with Zaheer Khan?

Knew that he was the Supersub, but my question is why? Anything happen to Agarkar, like injury or something?

super sub is not an ordinary 'substitute'. he can bowl n bat too, and can replace any player at anytime...more like replacement of any member of playing eleven midway during a soccer or american football match. its a new feature in cricket.

CAD...gyanster's point was the logic behind replacing Agarkar with Zaheer. Well gyanster, there was no explanation given out in the media. Maybe it was a niggle and they wanted him to rest before the next match without the media making a big hue and cry over an injury to him. Just a guess. Apart from an injury, there would be no plausible exaplanation as Agarkar was bowling quite well.

My analysis of match 3 and its aftermath. The guns blazed again and the pakis were humbled once more. Team India has given some nice egg on the face to its critics. Another day when Pakistan was outplayed in every department. And as Pakistan grapple with the loss of Akhtar and the sheer dominance of the Men in Blue chasing scores, Team India will go into match 4 with soaring confidence. And again, the onus would be on the bowlers. And they too know very well that if they perform well here, their place in the team is cemented for quite some time. India seemed unfazed by Viru's loss and now, everyone in the top and middle order has had productive stays on the crease. As things stand now, Team India is set to win the next match and the series and all Pakistan can pray for is India committing Harakiri in match 4. But that's a far fetched possibility in the current scenario with the young guns displaying amazing calm and maturity.

Agarkar hurt his back and was replaced.

Hope he's fit before the next match. My playing XI for the 4th ODI would be :

Sachin, Dhoni, Dravid, Yuvraj, Kaif, Raina, Powar, Pathan, Agarkar, RP Singh, Sreesanth with Gambhir as a supersub. This will go well if India win the toss and decide to chase. Sreesanth could be subbed for Gambhir and the second opener's slot alongside Sachin could be decided based on the target. If India is put into bat first, it'll be a case of 11 Indians v/s 12 Pakis. But India has won earlier under the given circumstances and the batting looks solid and deep even without Gambhir. Ideally, I'd have Dhoni open with Sachin in Viru's absence. Dhoni has stood up to the likes of Shoaib and Sami with aplomb and although his technique is "suspect" in the eyes of purists, he makes it up with some great innovation and excellent eye-hand co-ordination. The perfect replacement for Viru in the demolition man's position. Sachin can then play his strokes without any tension and the two together can score at a mind-boggling pace. Dravid and Yuvraj have been the mainstay of the middle order in recent times and they will fill in positions 3 & 4 as both are in good nick, especially Yuvraj. Kaif & Raina are solid batsmen coming in at no. 5 & 6. Both of them have high scoring capabilities in or without any pressure. And with some big hitting potential in the form of Powar, Pathan and Agarkar to follow, its going to be a big ask for the Pakistan bowling already reeling under the absence of Shoaib and now Afridi.

The bowling would be the strongest fielded by India in the series and with Pathan and Sreesanth using the new ball effectively and attacking bowling from Agarkar and RP to back it up, the pace attack is compact if not spectacular. Dravid will have spinning options in the specialist Powar and the part-timer Yuvraj. Plus, with Sachin chancing his arm around, we have a pool of 7 bowlers including 5 specialists. Even if 4 of them are effective enough, we can safely count on the bowling job well done.

All the best again for the men in blue for tomorrow.

Yuvraj, Dhoni Star In India's Emphatic Win

Yuvraj, Dhoni Star In India's Emphatic Win

Karachi, Feb 19 (PTI) Yuvraj Singh and Mahendra Singh Dhoni came together once again to unleash exhilarating strokeplay as India wrapped up the one-day cricket series 4-1 with a resounding eight-wicket victory against Pakistan here today.

Chasing a stiff target of 287, Yuvraj notched up his sixth one-day ton with an unbeaten 107 while Dhoni scored another blazing knock of 77 off just 46 balls to steer India to victory with 19 balls to spare.

It was yet another clinical performance by Rahul Dravid's men as they overhauled the target without much a do although at one stage things did appear a little tight with the required run rate zooming past seven runs an over in the fifth and final one-dayer at the National Stadium.

But the fact that the Indians did not lose many wickets helped them in the end, Dhoni capping the efforts of his senior teammates - Rahul Dravid (50) and Yuvraj with gutso. ...

Yes, Great to see India win another series against one of the formidable teams with a 4-1 margin. It makes us forget the Test loss.

Full marks to the whole team, where bowlers like Irfan Pathan, Sreesanth and R.P Singh have shown their talent the batsmen have showed what an excellent line up of batsmen can do to team India.

Now looking forward to the India vs England series.
