Care for the Human Family all the way Across the Globe

I am happy to endorse the delicious Indian meals prepared by Eastern Essence. Mirra, and Aadil Palkhivala have created them in the most conscious, impeccable way: they are GMO-free, organic, and easy to prepare – and tasty! The Palkhivala’s commitment to helping the poor farmers in India with the production of their Eastern Essence products only adds to the pleasure of eating this wonderful food. I am grateful to be able to share in this experience as we each try in some small way to extend our care for the human family all the way across the globe.

MINIATUREDONKEYS - HOW THE DONKEY CAME TO HAVE HIS CROSS

by HH » Sun Oct 16, 2005 4:48 pm

Image

MINIATUREDONKEYS

Miniature donkeys are a very sociable breed with great personality and determination. If you only have one donkey, it is a very lonely donkey. They make excellent pets, demanding attention (if I go to any pasture without first paying attention to my spotted donkey friend, Boomer - his namesake "Hee Haw" can be heard for miles around!) This breed has supported a steady market for years. They are easily kept on small acreage. They were first brought into this country to be used to haul ore out of mines which made their small size and easy upkeep an asset. They come in a variety of colors including spotted, grey dun, sorrel, brown, and black.

* They are shown across the country and registered in several organizations. Breeding jennets are usually between 32" and 36" at the withers and breeding jacks between 29" and 33". With proper care they can live for 25-40 years. They have one foal a year (with gestation period of 11-13 months). Donkeys are marked with a distinctive cross across their back and withers.

**
HOW THE DONKEY CAME TO HAVE HIS CROSS

Everyone knows that the little gray donkey carries a cross on his back. Most people don't know the legend of the donkey's cross. The Story is told that the little donkey that had been Jesus' mount on Palm Sunday, came to the hill of Calvary.
Seeing the tragic event occurring there he wished with all his heart he had been able to carry the cross for Jesus as he was the proper one to carry heavy burdens. The donkey turned his back on the sight, but he could not leave because he wished to stay until all was over because of his love for Jesus.
In reward for the loyal and humble love of the little donkey the Lord caused the shadow of the cross to fall across his back and left it there for the donkey to carry forevermore as a sign that the love of God, no matter how humble carries a reward for all to see.

CROSS MY HEART - Temporary Contemporary

by HH » Fri Jan 13, 2006 8:39 pm

* CROSS MY HEART - Temporary Contemporary

"One of the most anticipated records of the year and, oh, does it deliver" says Summer Salts. This Baltimore quartet offers up an aggressive yet delicate, diverse collection of songs that surrender each into the next with a certain sultriness that has you breathlessly following along. Led by the sweeping vocals of Ryan Shelkett, Cross My Heart guides you through a world of hopelessness and regret, sorrow and resolve. With a sound that is piercing, restless and powerful, "Temporary Contemporary" is a lesson in subtle seduction. Imperative listening and a stunning follow-up to their acclaimed self-titled EP. Unreleased song "Hearing Things" on Emo Diaries 3.

Conditioned Air - CROSSWIRES Havoc!

by HH » Thu Jan 19, 2006 5:35 pm

Conditioned Air *****

Friday afteroon, I was working at my drawing table when suddenly, my entire house lost power. Before I could react there was an awful sound coming from outside. Transformers popping, metal wrenching, wood splintering. It sounded like the world was ending.

I ran outside and my neighbor was jumping his fence. "He just drove off. " he said, pointing down the road the runs behind my house.

I turned and looked around the fence to see an electrical pole leaning over the road at a 45 degree angle, the wires loose and lying in the road. Across the street, another pole was splintered and in pieces on the grass.

Some truck driving down the road had snagged the crosswires between the two poles and ripped one in half and almost pulled the other right out of the ground and onto the street. Then he kept going.

The surge of power knocked out my air conditioner and I was without cool air for the weekend. I was at a convention both Saturday and Sunday during the day and at night, it was downright chilly outside. Not so unbearable.

Until last night. It tried to rain, so instead of cooling off, things just got humid and sticky. I have no idea how hot it was in the house, but it certainly wasn't the meat locker I prefer. We had three fans going and we still couldn't sleep.

It was then that I relized what a pansy I am. No artificially cooled air, no television, no internet...these are the staples in my life that make me cringe when I think of being without. Food, water...secondary items.

I can't tell you how excited I was today when that cool air came back on. I was in heaven. I turned it down to 65 just so I could feel like it was too cold in here.

God bless central air.

Restaurants Help Feed Red Cross Cause

* 30 December 2005

The (Danbury) News-Times: Thanks to more than 15 eateries in the Danbury area that signed up for a program organized by the Western Connecticut Chapter of the American Red Cross, the agency is hoping to raise at least $5,000 this season for victims of local disasters. The program, called Dining for Disaster Relief, runs through January.

"I think it's great that we can help the local community in this way," said Frank DeGirolamo, one of the owners of Nick's Pizza and Restaurant on Starr Street, Danbury, which plans a fund-raiser on Jan. 4.
