You guys have managed to hijack the discussion to something else. As usual.
Let me clear the air here. I do not think Hindi movies are crap, and neither do I talk non-sense about it. I think they are the best movies you can get anywhere in the world. I love those song and dance routines and those running around trees. They tend to have all the elements that one desires. They give you the life you want to lead.
But, I do have a bone with SRK. Why? Because he has become too much of a star and less of an actor. Ever saw his hair in Asoka (when he runs off into the jungle he has a modern crew cut - like that is going to be inconspicous for a man in hiding!) or in Devdas where he has his modern hairstyle? This is an issue of vanity. It looks so profane. And, tell me, has the man ever won any award which did not have the populist link to it?
Yes, there are people who love him but those are the kind of people who are in awe of stars. Personally, that is their preference and not my business. However, I suppose like people have the right to love SRK, there are those of us who have an equal right to not love the man. That does not mean that we speak lowly of Hindi cinema. No, we just speak lowly of the man because we think he is nothing but a sad old vain man.
