They Are Not Gods

Well, it\'s all about the cricket World Cup and the performance of the Indian team. I have been reading the posts of the board participants since the very first day plus I was reviewing all the news and expert comments from India about Indian team and its performance. But I was waiting for the final match so that I will give my view based on that result.

It\'s a matter of shame when I see some stupid dumb Indians who are protesting against the Indian team by burning their photos, throwing oil and black paint on their homes and taking out the funeral of the Indian team near Eden Gardens and some other places. As an Indian I personally feel very bad to see all these mindless stupid people who are good for nothing and a lowering down India\'s head in front of others. They won\'t see the acheivements of the Indian team but they boast and cry at some failures. How can you expect that one player or team will always perform good and to your satisfaction? They are not Gods!

Ups and downs are always there in any game. You must have the heart to enjoy the wins and absorb the shocks of the game and always enjoy the game like a game. What kind of encouragement are you giving to your team? Why are you not happy that India atleast reached the finals? At least in this tournament they proved better than the cricket giants like South Africa, Pakistan, New Zealand, England, West Indies and many others. Is it not a matter of pride? No matter who (player) contributed how much, as a whole it was a team performance and they played there as an Indian team. If you insult them then your are insulting yourself...

Another bitter fact is that most of our top Bollywood stars and ministers and many great personalities went there to watch the World Cup. Imagine how much each will spend on this trip (ticket(s), hotel, etc.). Well, a question hitting my mind since then is \'Will these people (stars) ever plan or think of visiting and helping the weeping widows and children of the soldiers who are dying for our country on the border everyday?\" They are sacrificing their lives and families for you and what you are you giving them in return? None of these stars even thinks about that... Sachin and Big B have enrolled their names in the top 20 billionares as of today... Hope they and some other billionares will spend some amount of their earnings and a little sympathy and time for the weeping widows, mothers and orphans of those brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives... It\'s a small thing, if you don\'t think...

first..i definitely agree with you abt the cricketers and the “mindless” indian public. in fact one thing you missed out was the absolutely horrific/embarrassing display of hooliganism in india throwing bottles/stones at teams when india was losing last year when zimbabwe was touring india. it doesnt help the game.. but it certainly makes indians a laughing stock in front of the whole world. next.. abt the big names visiting the widows ... i think its better that way.. we dont need these politicians.. and actors (wannabe politicians) to try and exploit the grief of those widows and orphans. but there have been personalities who went to cheer the soldiers on the war front when there was a war on(kargil for ex). and finally, these sportsmen live on the hopes/dreams of the public. there is much more that they can do.. i personally have become a fan of steve waugh after his charitable \"udhyan\" in kolkatta. i wish the likes of ganguly/tendulkar take a leaf out of his book.

All this is happening because India still is a country of UNPADS. U may have obsered that cricket is no more urban game. These advts glorify these cricketeers and make them stars. and Indians expect them to win always and when stars won\'t perform they feel cheeted. Let us hope average Indian behaves more prudently!!!
