Time to have an Indian soccer team

its the soccer time, soccer fever grippping the planet, every one in this part of the world supporting there national teams, and at times ask me , a country with more than a billion not able to produce a set of 23 good soccer players????? thought for a moment .....ya,Why not??? ...but when ????

We have a national soccer team and soccer is played all over India. The question, why cant we produce 23 quality players who can compete on International Level? The answer is probably, Indians are Cricket Crazy. I too get embarrassed by questions like - Why cant India win a single gold medal in the Olympics with a population of over billion. Notice, we send a delegation of approximately 200 participants in each of these Olympics and come back empty handed! As long as we have narrow-minded politicians running the sports bodies all over the country, we cannot produce quality players. Even Cricket, with all the hype and involvement of practically the whole nation, we are not even world-beaters!

i think we guys were more serios and were more afraid of career ......hence we did not play so many games....n uvcourse may be we do not have the ability.......stop blamin

Ezeee Luci,, you missed my point buddy. Political intereference does hamper development of healthy and competitive sports bodies. I\'ve been a sportsman myself and found that the conditions are just not condusive to produce good and competent sportspersons in India. Talking about seriousness of pursuing careers, other nations do produce outstanding sportspersons and they are career professionals too. NE way, so you tell us, what could be the reason for our failure in this area?

the problem is that most of the schools are too small ,if any...to encorage sports.and our society really doesnt encorage ppl to take up sports full time either!!

Looks like Brazil is going to win this year\'s Football
world cup.

Brazil last won the world cup in 1994.
Before that they won it in 1970.
Add 1970 and 1994, it equals 3964.

Argentina last won the world cup in 1986.
Before that they won it in 1978.
Add 1978 and 1986, it equals 3964.

Germany last won in 1990.

So going by this logic, the winner of the 2002 world cup
is the same as the 3964 - 2002 = 1962 world cup.
The 1962 world cup was won by Brazil.

Indian fans too have reason to rejoice :

Thats why I never liked this quota system of teams from all Continents. Its okay to promote soccer all over the world but to allow trashy teams competing with the best is a joke. Its like clubbing toppers from IITs, BITS and other premier institutions with top rankers from private colleges in Bihar, Uttarkhand and Jharkhand!! lol - Imagine, Holland, one of the most glamarious sides in Europe, not playing! and here we have endure watching the average Asian teams being thrashed around. The best system is to let top 32 teams in the world play for the World Cup. Regardless, which continent they represent.
