Race khatam ho gayee bhai mere, those are the final results. Schumi banged into a Williams car and so both were out of the race

yeh fischela kaun hai yaaron?
and barrichelo came 2nd inspite of having a pblm. in the beginning.
well done, i say!

Giancarlo Fisichella is the other driver for Renault, apart from Alonso so I guess Renault must be very happy now

And one driver who requires a special mention here is Coulthard, he pulled off a spectacular 4th place finish with a not-so-famous Red Bull team

I disagree, it would've been more fun if there was rain and the new tyre-rule is dumb. Anyway, the first race does make it look like this time around things are gonna b different

anyway today morning was the first time i sat thru an entire formula 1 race...only coz Narain was there :D

i am not much into F1 n all dat, but i like to watch a few laps occassionally and really enjoy the crashes

PS: i have driven from Hitech City to Airport in 40 minutes in my car at peak hour one day...doesnt that make me superior to Schumaker? 8)

No, it just means that they drive with tyre considerations in mind and changing the tyres is done within the time of fuel loading

I touched 110 kmph in a Maruti 800 and stopped only bcoz a buffalo blocked the road  , does this qualify me as the next Narain??

Wat Next

by Sachin » Sun Mar 06, 2005 11:15 pm

Hey Rock,

the new tyre rule has made the race more competitive the driver has to now care abt maintaining his tyres so that they can last for the whole race ..... Now isnt tat exciting ..... u cant just go crazy for a few laps u have to take care of u r tyres.

And guys wat do u think abt the next one the MALAYSIAN GRAND PRIX

I think it will be diff for Schumi to get bak and i back the Renault for a Podium finish. It will be very diff for schumi to win the race, competition frm unkown corners now isnt tat fun????

Lookin forward for Malaysia

I still find the tyre rule stupid, it makes them drive more conservatively and that means less accidents

Anyway, I think Coulthard is the under-dog this season, he got an astonishing fourth place in a Red-Bull and also warded off Montoya in the McLaren so i feel hes someone to look out for. And Narain has a lot to improve or he won't get a contract next year

All he needs to do is finish in the top 15 and he'll get a drive with jordan again. I'm pretty sure the business interests of the Jordan Team boss will compell him to sign Narain for another 2-3 years. Unless Karan Chandok can improve and get to atleast Formula Nippon level.

What I meant was, to get a contract with a better company. Although most of the companies have long-term contracts with their drivers now. :?

We need to look beyond the hype that is Narain and realize that he was never really prepared for Formula 1 yet. Or maybe he's past his prime. His form really peaked when he racing with Button and Webber (I think) in Formula 3. Unfortunately he didnt have the backing of the sponsors then.

But I would love to see Narain prove me wrong.

This time like every year we open a site for formula 1 fans.. un fortunately we are runing late as i am not around. I too belong to a bunch of hardcore F-1 fans and we express our thoughts using our very own medium, which will be out by Malaysian GP.

Personally i am exited about Narain's debut and impressed by his performance. I guess in 5 years time he would do really well once he graduates to a better richer team. His debut has been one of the best debuts so far.

I was just looking at the results and think that Narain didnt exactly do as well as the hype and praise he's getting.

He was 15th out of a field of 17 finishers. The two people behind him were his teammate Montiero and the rookie from Minardi - Friesacher.

He was 2 laps down when he finished.

He qualifies at 12th place but finished 15th (Montiero qualified 14th but finished 16th so that must have something to do with the pit stop)

Jordan is running a Toyota Engine right now which is very inferior to the Honda engine they used to run couple of seasons ago (Honda refuses to supply engines anymore since they have a team of their own).

The Toyota engine also is probably something that the Toyota F1 team used and phased out a year or two ago. This is probably because of the lack of any real money to get good engines.

More importantly the Jordan F1 team does not have the clout of Eddie Jordan anymore. His name used to bring in many sponsors.

The team was purchased by the Midlands group and is presently in a transitional phase while the group prepares a proper team for next year. They're gonna call it Midland F1 and will spend a lot of money overhauling the team from Designers to Drivers.

Whether Narain (and more importantly, India) is in the Midland Group's plans for the future is something for which we'll just have to wait.
