Ringu is great, actually i was thinking since that "Dark Water" (same director as Ringu, can thing of his name) is probably a better horror film. Haven't seen The Ring, i'd like to to compare.
I've got Ju-on, i wasn't that impressed. I had heard it'd blow Ringu out of the water, i felt the plot was weak. That said, there is lots of versions of it, so maybe i've got a weak version.
Dark Water is fairly scary, but i've a feeling i've only scratched the surface of jap horror. Audition is freaky, if you can sit through the whole thing. the end is worth it
