Two cops executed for rape

RIYADH: Two traffic police officers were executed yesterday after being convicted of raping an expatriate woman, according to a statement from the Interior Ministry.

Cpl. Shaalan bin Nasser Al-Qahtani and Lance Cpl. Fahd bin Hassan Al-Sebeyi were convicted of attacking an expatriate and raping his niece at a checkpoint they were manning in the capital, the ministry said in the statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency.

They had stopped them late in the night, beat the man up and locked him in a police car and then raped the woman, it added.

The two were arrested shortly after the victims reported them at the nearest police station.

Minor raped at Malakpet

Feb. 20: A 15-year-old orphaned girl, who recently came to the city from Mahbubnagar to earn a living, was raped for three days in Malakpet.

Police said that the girl has been sent to the Nayapul Hospital for medical examination.

Police said the girl was picked up by a woman named Asha, a resident of Asmangad, who had spotted her in the city and had asked her to marry her own husband Narasimha a daily wage labourer. Asha and Narasimha are childless and wanted the girl to conceive a child for them.

When the girl turned down Asha’s proposal, she was forcefully confined in a house and was allegedly raped by Narasimha for three days.

Sensing foul play, the neighbours rescued the girl. Based on a complaint lodged by her, the police has registered a case and are on the lookout for the absconding couple.

This is the second such incident in the city within a month in which a minor girl has been raped. Recently, the police arrested a 25-year-old man, Kishore, for raping a minor at Jeedimetla. He had offered a lift to the girl and her mother in his car.

However, on reaching an isolated place, Kishore pushed the mother out of his moving car and raped the 16-year old girl. He was later arrested.
