I think YSR has turned dictator. I don't know about the good things he's done - none has directly affected me - but I am affected for the worse by too many things he does. Land-grabbing is at an all-time high after he came, I haven't seen him speak a word about curbing corruption which is really bad, and the city has turned extremely congested and dense with the traffic cops concentrating more on writing challans.
And now this. Andhra Jyothi is still big, and has been able to rake up state-wide protests. Smaller vigilant people, groups and media companies don't stand a chance against an intolerant CM like this who'll make life miserable for them if they take a stand against his government. Sure, Andhra Jyothi's editor will be released today or tomorrow thanks to the public relations disaster, but there's now a huge deterrent for lesser powerful papers, citizen's groups and websites that will think many times before deciding finally to mind their own business.
(And finally, what's with Deccan Chronicle? It puts its political preferences and competitive priorities before even its own journalistic brethren. There doesn't seem to be a word of coverage either yesterday or today on an issue that is headlines in every other paper and every TV channel, and that's burining up the state.)
