neeraj, u got a career as a crime reporter, my boy. as for police officers, i dont understand why they should be any different from other human beings. not that i am for condoning police officers who commit crimes. i mean, yeah, if the guy who is supposed to protect, kills, well, there is no end to it. but does that mean we just sit with our eyes and ears covered, mouth shut. would you take the responsibility? would you join the police force? if the answer is \'yes\' good luck to you, if its \'no\' dont expect saints to step into the \'khakhi\' dresses.

I have lived in a country where there is no corruption absolutely. The police men are sincere to the core to their heart, it is a place called Saudi Arabia, one should live there if you require to develope some quality and ethics in life. There is hardly any crime there, you can leave your house wide open and can go out. No one will barge in. Women can walk alone at midnight. Can we do this in other part of the world? We do not want saints to do this, a sincere police officers who are not in the clutches of any politicians, there are ofcourse a good bunch of goddies also, but they are not able to exercice their powers due some external influence.

Mera Qaatil hi mera munsif hai - kya mere haq mein faisla dega!!

Looks like we are at the verge of completion of the human civilisation cycle. Incidents of the above type only suggests that we are not far from the stage where we began our civilisation from - We are becoming civilized animals. But I still believe there are many humans who are empowered by the Government who must make every effort and contribution at whatever level they can to ensure that every criminal of the above category (atleast) ends up becoming a horrifying example for the society.

After the incidents as highlighted by Neeraj re the judge and this police officer where can a common could go to seek protection / justice.

Our judicial system is like a flabby, old lame duck - its time to revise the sytem and install a system that is fool proof and that is quick and fast so that the society knows the results of a wrong doing before they long forget the relationship between the crime and the punishment awarded to a criminal. Legal Experts should come forward and take charge of this renovation.

so mr neeraj u lived in ksa? where? FYI saudi arabian police officers are not different than any other police men in the world. It is the law of the country that makes these police officers so clean and not the job. The law is fear of God and live conscience that exist in this part of the world. But there are other many examples where there are many horror stories and ill-treatment of other humans especially by their so called employers and kafils. You only need to visit some labor camps, then you will get to see the other side of the coin.

Guys let\'s not deviate from the topic - pls ignore references (Saudi, USA etc) which should serve as only a tool for better explantion of one\'s point of view. If we start discussing about the references we will never be able to concentrate on the main issue.

Yeah - It is rightly believed that at the height of glory of human civilization, satan comes to play his role. A man becomes unjust and foolish in spite of continuous guidance given by the Creator through His Messengers and Prophets thoughout ages. No matter, how purified and reformed a given society becomes, crimes will still be committed though the difference would be that of degree. It is very essential for us therefore, to examine the problems of crimes and reasons for its prevalence, to study the personalities of these criminals as well as their psychology and nature in order to prevent the future crime rate. Wherever it is neccessary to appropriate the blame on society, it is equally necessary to blame the structure of our social institutions and our leaders and the members of the society who helped in encouraging as driving the criminal to commit a particular crime. Justice delayed is Justice denied. Crime thrives in a society where there is no swift and appropriate punishment for criminals. Unless we put into place and practice appropriate punishment, the society will continue to suffer. We have the laws, the Indian Penal Code is a detailed reference to crime and punishment, but unfortunately they are not enforced due to a variety of reasons.

I don't know about Saudi Arabia because I haven't lived there, but here in Taipei where I live now and also in Singapore where I lived previously, I can say that police officers are clean, efficient and honest, and people can work and live in peace and harmony with one another.
