If this is going to be a professional effort in terms of organization etc. (with at least 5 dedicated organizers), we'll throw our mite behind it. We could write to about 30,000 users. At a strike rate of about 1-2%, there should be 500 persons turning up (it's not a good idea to attract more than that for a first time event). However, it's possible that some unruly guys may also land up, so there should be some controls and thought in place.



We suggest:



1. A good venue

2. An entry fee, probably used for snacks and other organizational efforts

3. A band + some other forms of entertainment

4. Some informal events for ice-breaking/bonding

5. A date in probably April, so there's good time to prepare

It might be a bit dicey for people to take the time, considering a lot of members have jobs, academics and other sundry irritations that occupy their lives. That's one thing to be said about a small, informal meet: that it doesn't take too much effort to organize. Anyway, the idea is good and, under Ctrl's able leadership, it should turn out to be quite and event.

I can spare time only on weekends and evenings on some week-days.



If a person(s) is required to organize it fulltime, i suggest the full-hyd team

do it. I promise all the assistance i can give...at the times i mentioned.

April..thats like the peak of summer. A great idea to make out offline presence felt but make sure the timing is right. Timing can make a world of difference.
