Yahoo 1GB mail account with POP3 Access

by ycr007 » Fri Oct 22, 2004 8:06 pm

Hey,I got this really useful piece of info from another forum.I have tried it out and it works.you can get a 1GB mail account from Yahoo China. One has to encounter chinese text but what the heck!!! GB's are important, not Fonts...........

Here's how:

1. Create a Yahoo ID. You can create one here:

copy paste this link on ur address bar

http://edit.yahoo.com/config/eval_regis ... mo=&.last=

2. UNCHECK the 'Create my free Yahoo! email

address'. Give an alternate non-yahoo email address.

3. Complete the procedures, then logout after.

4. Activate your chinesa-domained email adress by going to http://cn.mail.yahoo.com ( THE PAGES WILL BE IN CHINESE FONT )

5. Fill in your newly created Yahoo ID and password and click the button below.

6. Type anything on the two text boxes that appears. I don't know what the labels say either.

7. You will have initially 100 MB of email space.

8. Logout.

9. Login to Yahoo Messenger ( YM ), using your newly created Yahoo ID.

if you don't have YM installed, donwload it here:

http://messenger.yahoo.com

10. Add at least a contact/friend. If you don't have anyone to add, add this ID: chowyeuw

11. Logout.

12. Go to http://cn.mail.yahoo.com

13. Click the *glowing* 1G icon.

14. A new page will be opened on a new browser window.

15. Fill in your newly created Yahoo ID and password on the the 2 text boxes below. Then click the yellow button under.[ I think it says Sign-in]

16. Just click the 2 big yellow buttons that appear succesively.

17. Now you have 0% of 1.0GB

Your default language will be English, with free POP3.

This will be good news for those without Gmail accounts.

exactly my thoughts....but probably ycr was talking about the POP3 part of the yahoo deal. But why would someone need 100MB on POP3 is the big Q. Just keep deleting messages from the server once you download them...or if you're on the move...leave only the last 10 days messages.

samajh nahi aata...why 100MB on POP3?

Good info, but I'd be damned to do so much work to get space I would never be able to fill (Murphy's Law notwithstanding).

Well,to tell u the truth,I was as skeptical as you are before i did all that.

Though it seems a lot in words, all it takes is a few clicks and few keystrokes. It would take as many as searching for a particular topic on fullhyd.

But after all the clicking n typing,I had for myself a smacking 1GB account. I may'nt use it fully (100MB is fine for me too) but what drove me to do it is the sheer pleasure of possessment. Spending a few mins clicking n typing a few words in lieu of a GB of space does'nt seem a bad bargain. And who knows, maybe i shall get a job in IBM or Siemens tomorrow and i shall need loads of Space in my E-Mail box??? (Though i'm not sure if that will be required!!!) It ain't gonna expire soon. It ain't costing me $4.99/Month. Ain't getting any Spam. And i can Show-off to my less-fortunate friends.. 8) 8) 8)

Almost all of you know what is the catch phrase of Nike......................Just Do It..........So I just Did it..................and all of you are also welcome......................
