We should not let our specific issue be bogged down by a utopic goal and do something concrete regarding this specific issue within a reasonable span of time. Focusing on this specific issue will not solve the general social problem but will provide positive results such as:
1) We will do some justice to Kavitah as our friend.
2) We will give confidence to any of our members who is or might become a victim.
3) We will dissuade any member who harbors intentions of vidyasagar and family.
4) This discussion forum will hopefully have a wider offline impact too.
5) We will send the message that this forum, in addition to being a discussion forum, is a support network which follows the word with action.
I do not know the facts of Kavitha's case, but assuming the written in the news and in this forum true, I think we should:
1) form a coordinating team
2) start a fund
3) take Kavitha's family into confidence
4) formulate a plan
5) make an action list
6) pursue the actions vigorously.
As some suggested, we should go to media, go to police and ensure the case is being followed up, takeup legal counsel and rest not till Sagar and family is prosecuted.
The justice being so slow in India, I am not averse to
1) using goondas as another member suggested
2) arranging a band to be played with placards and announcements in front of Vidyasagar's house and office, as was done to tax defaulters in rajamundry.
3) Going to womens organizations
4) Going to anti dowry NGOs
I am sure we have people from different professions in this forum so I request relevant people to step up and announce how they can help, even if you have some close ones not in this forum but can be of help.
I live in US and can do the following from here:
1) Some fund contribution
2) Probably can get some social pull
3) Introduce some lawyer.
I sincerely hope we will not let Kavita's life go in vain by not walking the talk.
