BOMB BLAST NEW DELHI- The Site Report.

by Sri » Mon Nov 07, 2005 7:02 pm

Today I happened to see the site of the bomb blast at Main Bazaar, Pahar ganz, New Delhi. Today at 1830 hrs Indian Standard Time.

The Bomb blast took in a corner at a meeting place of three streets

The site is exactly in front of ML Medicos in the main bazaar.

The Pan Puri stall is still there.

Today I took Pani Puri over there.

Four pieces costs Rs 5/-

I could see the jewelers shop over there whose name board and all interiors are shattered.

We could still see the shattered pieces of glasses over the ground.

There is a depression in the road over the exact blast site.

The broken pieces of glass still fill that depression.

All of a sudden I saw contingent of Delhi police patrolling there.

A Havaldar (Duty Delhi Police sergeant is permanently standing there with a carbine machine Gun)

I dont know.

What is the need now.

I am a person who used to frequent Main Bazaar Pahar Ganj frequently.

I used to go there at least thrice in a year.

This time naturally I could see the grim situation over there.

I could not see the enthusiastic shouts of the shopkeepers and agents.

But still then all the activities are going on without any interruptions.

I could see huge number of foreigners moving around there with out much fear.

I wonder what its like... I used to be at Sarojini Nagar Market practically every month. 6 years ago, I was there a few days before Diwali... the place was packed... I know what its like. And the mere thought unnerves me!

BOMB BLAST NEW DELHI- The Site Report.

by Madhav » Thu Nov 10, 2005 6:18 pm

Why do we let this happen in our country?

After the blast, our police got into action. Is it more easy to follow (investigate) an event rather than prevent it?

How come US has no reported terrorism act in its territory after 7/11?

I am told that the scrutiny has increased to such a level that vigilance is of the high order.

Somehow, we as a people seem to miss the immediate need most of the times. Take corruption, the root cause of all poverty.

In Karnataka, crores of rupees worth property was seized from a corporation engineer.

Our FM, PC, says he will track all those who are paying more than 1000 rs. as cell bill will be tracked....?

Why not track all corporation engineers/heads all over the country. There must be 1000s.

The fear that some income tax official may knock on the doors is going to send all these people running for cover. Keep on raiding politicians, tax officials, etc. It is no big deal to raid a female actress house.

A single minded approach to cleanse of corruption will result in :

a.Better public services

b.Utilization of funds for intended purposes. (Lesser infrastructure problem as we are seeing in bangalore)

c.Encouragement to honest people and a message to them that they are the true citizens fo the country.

d.Promotions to meritous and hardworking people

e.No religious partisanship, and nepotism.

These are my views of mine personal only.

Regards

Madhav

Preventing such incidents is not as easy as you make it out to be. You have to consider the size and population of the country too. Agreed, certain important places can be kept under high security. But how can we keep areas like a busy market in a city like Delhi under close scrutiny? Delhi Police will have to be the size of the Indian army to do that.

We need to appreciate the fact that over the last few years, no place of importance has come under terrorist attack and law enforcement agencies are extremely efficient in that matter.

The situation is entirely different in India and the US. Comparing the two is like comparing apples and oranges. In India, there is a proxy war being waged by the pakis and their strategy is to keep attacking different places in the country to keep alive the realm of terror. In the US, the perpetrators achieved their goal with the single attack on 9/11. And a huge one at that, which brought almost the entire US system on the verge of a breakdown.

In warfare terms, you can term whats happening in India as somethink akin to conventional air bombing whereas 9/11 was like a nuclear attack.

Where does corruption come into this? I thought we were talking about terrorist attacks. Anyways, I'll still share my views on what you have to say.

On a lighter note, won't all these people you talk about come under the scope of people spending more than 1000 bucks on cellphone bills?

Seriously though, yes...they should go after bureaucrats, or for that matter anyone, who has a disproportionate income. But where do they get all this info from? Isn't keeping an eye on people's phone bills a good way of doing that? And if you're one of those who are spending high on phones, and also paying your taxes on time, why do you need to worry at all?

- Very less number of religious fanatics, hence less or nil support to the terrorists. Also very good income levels, so nobody would be interested in helping terrorists for monetary gain.

- They don't have a neighbour(no body in the near distance actually :D) who silently encourages militancy in their country and call it as moral support.

- Very good intelligence system
