i am plannig to buy a 5.1/6.1 home theater system with the follwoing config: 2 front spkr, 1 center spkr, 2/3 rear/surround spkr, subwoofer and receiver (amplifier).
i have shortlisted 3 brands: SONY, ONKYO, JAMO (pronounce 'Yamo') after listening to demos. No LGs, Samsungs, Phillips, Akai etc plz. none of them come near the above 3 in sound quality)
my budget is abt 30-40K and this means i have to go for the base versions in any of the above 3 brands.
is it possible to mix n match spkrs and recievers from more than one brand? this is coz i prefer wooden spkrs and only ONKYO, JAMO have a good range in wood (SOny's limited wooden range seems never to be available for demo at Sony World). and i love a sexy flat subwoofer from Jamo that cud be slipped under a sofa or hung on a wall like a decorative item.
can spkrs from one brand be coupled to a amp from another (Sony's amps are cheaper than, say Jamo's)...?
ONKYO is my last choice since my cuz already has one (i prefer exclusivity whereever possible
any ideas on how i can organize such a home theater system? plz suggest any other brands too...
once i set it all up (maybe in a month or 2) there wud be a Film Night/Evening at my place!
