About to be a Hyderabadi (again!!)

by Bogaga » Sat Dec 25, 2004 3:40 pm

I am soon to be a Hyderabadi (again). I'd be leaving Mumbai for good....

My office will be in Tarnaka and my wife's office would be in Hi-Tec city.

I guess renting a flat in areas like Paradise circle, Marredpally would be good for both of us, commuting wise....

By the way, does Hyderabad have any concept of private contract buses that ply between select locations? :?:

Is there anyone out there that has similar commuting needs? What do you think would be good areas that I can look for?

hi! welcome back to hyderabad, Bogs! :D

Paradise (sindhi colony, Airlines Colony etc) and Marredpally are nice places and convenient for both of u.

various IT/ITES compnaies run their contract carriages for employees...so if yr's or yr wife's companies have this facility, it'll be easy for both of u. in this case u can look at the entire ameerpet-begumpet-paradise-marredpally stretch for a residence.

apart from this u have the options of city bus, auto ricks, call taxis or yr own vehicle...
wtf? i no longer care if my posts hurt yr feelings
Love me or hate me, u cant ignore me :D

Which from what I heard is a rarity in Mumbai.

About to be a Hyderabadi (again!!)

by Bogaga » Sat Dec 25, 2004 5:48 pm

I was born in Hyd and also spent two years there when I studied at St Mary's Centenery Jr College at Sec'bad.

Have been in Mumbai last 7 years.

Decided to head back to Hyd after seeing Mumbai steadily deteriorate from bad to worse.

Reg commuting options, Mumbai has a great public transport infrastructure (local trains, BEST buses), of course if you can handle the rush. Trains and buses are safe (my wife can easily come home even at 12 midnight without any safety worries), frequency is very high and service is good.

The problem here is that roads are clogged and traffic gets stuck big time. So, using personal transport is not a very pleasant thing to do (who wants to twiddle his thumbs behind a steering while for hours waiting for traffic to clear up?).

Prices are okay except for real estate (rents are astronomical) but I didnt have much of a problem there coz I own a home here in Mumbai. Water and electricity supply is plentiful and 24x7 available.

But on an overall basis , Hyderabad is a million times better versus Mumbai (as for that matter any other city in India) so I am very happy I am coming back there.
