what else is there to see around nagarjun sagar other than the dam for a first timer. are there any places that u can drive down to under 100 km from there ?

how far is it. and yes where do we stay over there.jus called up the ATPDC and they said they don have rooms there.what are the good hotels around nagarjun sagar.

there are many non-govt. hotels there. do not miss the waterfalls nearby. it feels great to sit on the water near the hill top from where the river plunges into the ravine....

this is the perfect season to go trekking at Ananthagiri hills near vikarabad (3 hrs drive). it wud be lush green too. but remember to pre-arrange lunch in the inspection bungalow there or pack yr own picnic lunch. if u r interested, there's an ancient underground temple there.

we finally went to the APTDC office and managed to get a non govt hotel. arent the falls called ethipothla falls. other than that place i have heard that there are some buddhist places. we r goin there from the 11th to the 14th which is a looong time. so i wud like to know places around too.

thats Nagarjuna Konda, an island with a museum. u have to take a ferry ride to reach that place.

almost 4 days there!!! then if possible spend more time at the waterfall...u can laze in the water all day...

We got frustrated so many times.

Whenever we approach AP tourism reservation complex they always have the same answer.

We dont have enough number of tourists to arrange for the bus.

I think Mr control You are making confusion.

I beleive Nagarjunasagar is totally different from Vikarabad.

3)Sanjeevaiah park

4)Birla mandir which gives Good city view

5)NTR Gardens

6)Durgam cheruvu

7) NTR National park

Shamerpet lake, I liked the calmness

9)Ananda Bhudha Vihara, at East Marredpally area, Beleive me this is a wonderful location not given much publicity

10)Prasdaz multiplex for several reasons

11)MMTS Train journey from secunderabad to hyderabad.

12)Golconda fort

13)Golconda fort sound & light show

14)Balaji temple at Chilkur beyond Golconda

15)Osman sagar dam beyond Golconda

16) ISKCON Secunderabad

17)Qutub sahi tombs, I liked the calmness

18)Taramati Badathari Premavathi mosque these two locations are beyond Golconda area

ONE DAY TRIP FROM HYDERABAD CITY

1) Warangal I really enjoyed- Best trip

Go their by Krishna express, Return by krishna express

2) Medak church we really enjoyed the trip

3) Ramoji fil city. It was dry nothing found there. No cinema stars. All studios are indoor. They dont aloow you to enter inside the indoor areas.

3) I know Vikarabad- Ananthagiri as suggested by Controller must also be best

4) Nagarjuna sagar/Nagarjuna konda trying an opportunity to go

5) Srisailam trying to get an opportunity to go

thanks for all the information. what i really wanted to know is what is thre to visit around nagarjun sagar as we r driving down there and staying there for 3 days. the onlye places that i have picked up from this thread are the water falls and the buddhist thing. i have heard Sri sailam is nearby. if so how nearby and what is there to visit there. heard theres some tiger reserve also. all these i heard of on the net on some sites but there were no clear directions. plzz do suggest.

Yeah its running but the main prob are those naxals.They get into the boat and ask for money,cameras,etc.And most of the times they sabotage the boats.BTW many people dont know this.IF anyone is going to srisailam,visiting this place is a must.Its like a temple in a cave but the scenery is simply awesome.The entire place is serene and you can really enjoy the place.No one around except the preists.This place is only accesable by 2 ways.1.A 1 hr boat ride.2.A walk in the jungle but you have to walk among naxals and tigers. :twisted:

There is this big cave where the shiv ling is placed and its a must see.I bacically went there for the cave and the scenery and not for the temple.

But if you really want to enjoy the place you have to take couple of beers and some snaks.
