Office meetings

by Habitual Perfectionist » Fri Jun 11, 2004 7:25 pm

Was going thru the shouts in boredom and saw CAD's messages on his office meeting.

I have this prick of a boss who makes us come for a monday morning meeting all the way to Himayatnagar from Banjara Hills at 11:30 am. The traffic, dust & heat make it one of the worst time of the day to move out...especially to a place like Himayatnagar, which has traffic jams at even 9 in the night.

All we do at the meeting is spend 10 minutes asking each other if they have anything to say...which we generally don't...as almost all the day to day operational issues are handled by me and my boss doesn't have a reason to meddle into it. Then we have a 5 minute Updates Ceremony where the boss would give us an update from the management side about any new things coming in. Something he can very well do on the phone with me and leave it on to me to update others.

In my earlier workplaces, meetings always used to be time wasting ceremonies. People just passing the buck and trying to show off that they are the only committed workers in the office.

No wonder I miss Mumbai so much. People are so professional out there. Yes...its an expensive place (the only expensive thing there is actually real estate); agreed that commuting in Mumbai is a pain. But for the sheer pleasure of working, nothing comes close to it. I miss Mumbai man!!!

Would have made more sense had you said Once in a while instead of Once a week

Once a week, every week is not once in a while. Especially when the alternative is so easy.

My problem is not with meeting the boss.

My problem is with mindlessly travelling all the way through the pathetic traffic for something that can be done over the phone. ITs about convenience.

Having lived in Mumbai, Hyd traffic must be bliss to you. No matter what the traffic, you an still manage to get from one place to another here in not more than 40 min. In Mumbai, that is the min time you spend on the local, not to mention the time taken to walk/commute to and from the station.

This is the thing I have seen with Mumbaites. You guys get so used to the grime of Mumbai that the laid-back city attitude irks you. Enjoy it while it lasts. It is not everywhere where you can come in at 11:00 in the morning and people think you are early. At least here you get to live, not merely exist.

I agree with Lucifer on the "from" part
Things are supposed to happen the way they happen. And the reason they happen the way the happen is because you try to make them happen in a certain way and may or may not be succesful.
