See how these stupid buffaloes caused a train accident!!!!
Buffaloes derail MMTS train
Hyderabad, Aug. 10: Barely 24 hours after its launch, a Multi Modal Transport System train hit two buffaloes on the track and derailed near Hitec City when it was travelling at an estimated 80 kmph.

No one was injured, but it could have been serious as the train was travelling on a bund with a huge ditch on one side. The incident took place about 11.40 am.

The train was carrying about 300-odd commuters, mostly holiday-makers out on a joyride.

Two front wheels of the front engine-cum-passenger cabin came off the rails when the train hit the animals that had strayed across the track.

Residents had stopped the MMTS train heading for Lingampally on Saturday demanding that a railway crossing gate be opened at the place. They contended that the track had come up over a well-used path and said that providing a level crossing would make it safe for crossing.

When Union Minister of State for Railways Bandaru Dattatreya visited the spot, a wag asked him if the accident was a result of the South Central Railway starting the service without a bali (sacrifice), seeing that the animals that died were buffaloes. The Minister smiled away the question.

SCR General Manager Stanley Babu said, \"The front wheels of the engine derailed when it hit the buffaloes. But we cleared the track within hours and service was restored at about 3.15 pm.\"

The MMTS train on service SL6 from Secunderabad to Lingampally started its journey at around 10.50 am from Secunderabad.

An assistant commercial manager of the Secunderabad division P V N Ravi Kumar, who was on board to collect the reactions of passengers, said that the train came to a halt after it hit the cattle. \"More than 90 per cent of the commuters were on a joy trip.

Most of them boarded the train along with family members to enjoy the travel by the new train. The six bogies of the train including first class were packed with commuters. The train, with an engine each in the front and rear, was moving at 80 kmph when it hit the buffaloes.

With the cattle caught between the wheels, the driver tried to shake it free by moving the train back and forth. This resulted in the front wheels jumping off the rails,\" Ravi Kumar said.

Passengers were asked to get down from the train and they were taken to Secunderabad by another train after half an hour. \"We were shocked when the train suddenly stopped and tilted. Thank God we are safe and escaped without any injuries or casualties,\" K Ajay Kumar, who boarded the train at Secunderabad said.

The driver of the train Satyanarayana said he tried to stop the train when he saw the cattle. Stanley Babu said traffic on the route was affected for four hours.

\"It\'s a very minor mishap. No one can stop buffalos from crossing the track,\" he said. The same MMTS train moving towards Lingampally was stopped by residents of Borabanda on Saturday demanding that a crossing gate be opened at the place.

I dont blame the buffaloes, cos they dont have the sense of direction and place! It us, humans, who ought to be blamed. Cant we have all rail-road tracks fenced on either side to stop animals crossing and causing accidents?

Even by painting tigers the buffaloes will run from them and cause accidents.

Even captive bred tigers don\'t know how to kill their prey, so how can you expect a city bred buffalo to fear a tiger, that too a cut-out, which it has never seen in its lifetime!
May the Fries be with you!
