Can anybody out there please tell me what an ISBN number is? What does it tell us about the book and is it unique for each book? Do all the books published in India start with the number 81?Please help me get the answers for these questions...

Krishna, ISBN stands for International Standard Bibliographic Number... e. g. 0881923206. The ISBN is a unique machine-readable identification number, which marks
any book unmistakably. If you wish to obtain an ISBN, you should contact the national or regional ISBN agency in your own country. Presently, 159 countries or territories are official ISBN members. Have fun!
