so many politicians and dadas are starting new colleges with small buildings. manage to get recognition by giving money to the concerned authorities. so there also gunda type education prevails.

a enterprise is to undertake a risky project, for the sake of a prize.....if the Indian education system really becomes a enterprise, then it is a BIG welcome!!!!got it......

Education used to be a noble profession, but is not any more. It has become commercial to the core, with money swindling in the name of school funds and donations. And the best part is the very popular tax free wealthy income in the private tutions...

Like most things, there are good and bad things about education being commercialised. See, nowadays everything is a business, and nobody wants to do anything without returns. Running and educational institute is much the same. As long as the \'business\' is respectable and there are certains ethics and Dharma being followed, it can prove to be a good give-and-take transaction. So ideally, for the high amount of money that\'s spent on certain courses, hopefully that will prepare the person well to face the needs of the bigger money-machines called \'Economy\' or \'Companies\' or \'Industry\'.
I have listed the good, we all know what the bad things can be!

V,
thanx, but the institution of education is supposed to be transfer of knowledge aka vidya dana. Dana should not be for sale/extortion. May be down the time line, Dharma has become the Appadharma. As a deviant to the topic, don\'t you feel the commercialization down grades the quality of education?

dear sir, sikanderabadi well said sir, yes it is really degrading, education/teaching is the most noble profession, but not any more, professors and teachers used to be treated with a very high respect and regard, but gone or those days. if a student is caught copying the professor is sure is in trouble in the present situation.

i wish our time rewinds to the 1960 to 1970 golden period.

Hi L. Sik., yes, in my opinion commercialization leads to downgrade of education in the majority of such cases. Especially in the last 10-20 yrs in India - with all the schools, colleges, engg/medical colleges etc. that sprang up. But there are a few cases in India too where high fees are positively associated with good education. One example is BITS, Pilani, an engg college. It\'s rated alongside the IIT\'s. In the USA, some of the most reputed colleges charge prohibitively high fees. The people (management) who charge high fees are accountable to the students. If only the ppl who set up educational institutes realise that imparting education at any level is a very noble service, and are sincere in their duty. A related topic is the reservation issue in India...

Hi Guys
I dont see anything wrong in privatising Education but i expect a return of every penny i spend for Education. As long as the Education system is transperant by this i mean when a student has to be selected for an Educational Institute it has to be done based on his/her merit and not by the amount of money they give on donation(which is unaccountable) or the recommendation they get from some bureocrat.I am in US and primary and High school Education(specific to its cost) is good with respect to private schools in India expect it is very stressful for children which can be reduced and get them involved in more overall growth of personality things.

And the next recommendation i want to make is improve the government zilla parishad schools this can be done by assigning a group of schools(like in hundreds) to a private organisation which is a big company .I am stressing on a big company since they can be held accountable by the media if they dont do there duties correctly. Hey one thing everyone has to realise is no one does anything for free so there should be a may be 10% commision for the private organisation for maintaining the school.

Ofcourse all these things can be done if the government increases the budget for Education.
