Yahoomail going the "fee email" way

by vivek of themavericks.. remember!! » Thu Jul 25, 2002 12:12 am

There is a strong talk of yahoomail turning as a pay and use email.Yahoo.INC has been suffering losses since the last three quaters. Its a fact.Infact the CEO of yahoo ireland and england faced a strong interview on BBC.Now yahoo mail has introduced the beta version which they want everyone to try. This new version which is supposed to be in its Beta stages is pretty impressive, but there are some bugs(which is why beta!!).Now i guess yahoo would wanna get its users get used to this and suddenly explode the bomb of \"pay or quit\" which would apparently effect 400 million users!.Think, wanna stick that monotonous rediff interface?or that walt disney inspired over complicated hotmail/msn?.Or wanna risk it with yahoo?.

well, actually most people can\'t afford pay and use email, so I guess if yahoo goes the pay way, users will just switch over to another free mail service. and yeah, the beta version is lousy. it sucks like $hit. moreover it won\'t work on some of the browsers on linux.

Yahoo mail beta is part lycos, part msn and part yahoo itself.I now feel that may be they wanted tp attract all those msn, lycos users to yahoo with all that gimix with bugs they have just inroduced and then finally explode the bomb of \"pay or leave\".They actually that kinda thing by cutting FTP in geocities, removing some sections and making that POP3 feature as pay!.Now that i feel is the first sign, this beta stunt might be stunt number 3.Making it may stunt number 3.So that would complete that 1-2-3 go kinda thing!!!.I am very apprehensive..what about others!!

Use forwarding services such as bigfoot.com to avoid problems of missing e-mail if you indeed receive important e-mails on yahoo and so forth. Bigfoot forwards e-mail to the e-mail address that you want it to be sent to. Therefore, you won\'t have to keep e-mailing people about an address change. One address works for all. Isn\'t that simple?

yeah, but bigfoot has a limit of 25 mails a day. and its going to be pay someday :)) most forwarding address services are the first to go pay.. so just wait and see :>

yep , we had so much trouble when usa.net became a pay email.millions were using usa.net.but if yahoo goes that way , then this time it will be even more difficult for us especially for those who apply for jobs etc giving out their emaid-id for further contacts.
