There is no 100% on that, no matter how you meet the person you marry .. marriage takes a lot of luck and hard work .. In North America People who live together for years before they get married ... but marriage only last 1 year ... I don't know how that makes any sense?? Its is a fact that Traditional marriages are least likely to end in divorce... As love is blind... until the going gets tough

To be fair, if a guy is in a reln and still pretending to be single, it only means that you are one haaaawt chick or his gf is giving him a hard time. Other than that most guys are sincere in their relationships, I guess.

Nice to see the Change in Sensibilites of Gals Nowadays. But How many Orthodox Parents will Choose Online Matrimony over the Age-Old Purohit/Shastrigaru type Marriage-Looks or even those types where the Groom's Aunt's Cousin's Wife's Elder Sister's Mother's Brother was a Nephew of the father of the bride's cousin's husband........

While Matrimony Sites may have a Decent following in the mCosmopolitan Cities, the Newspaper Matrimonies carried out by Hindu & Eenadu are More

Popular than the Online Ones I think...

According to me,if we rank the means of Alliances, the rankings wud be as such:

1.Acquaintances/Word-of-Mouth

2.Purohit/Shastrigaaru etc

3.Various Samaajams that cater to individual Castes

4.Newspaper-Based-Matrimony

5.Online Matrimony

Ok here we go.. please bare with me as I feel the need to explain why HyderabadMatrimony.com was started... If there is anyone on this board that is an NRI or Second Generation Hyderabadi... they will understand the need of this website. Living in Hyderabad it is much easier to get an arranged or love marriage... because the people that you associate on the daily basis are 'Eligible' marriage material (same religion, caste, culture, ect. ) However, Parents outside of India need a forum to connect.. Also, Singles want to bring home someone that will be accepted in their families .. this is very difficult to meet "eligible" people out here ... i found that Hyderabadi parents prefer to marry within culture and religion. So basically the site is trying to connect Hyderabad #2 (Chicago) and Hyderabad #3 (Toronto)..with all the other little Hydro communities in the world.. (Hydro is the word 2nd Gen's use to call Hyderabadi's :P ) ...to show these people that they do have a choice and there are people in your own culture available so you don't have to go outside... I know my parents wouldn't be very happy if my brother said he wanted to marry a 'Gori' :x or 'Kali African' or even and Indian Sikh :? for that matter ... but those are the girls he goes to college with .. Hope you understand ... but i do appreciate the points of view I am getting from everyone...

Just wondering aloud...I have never been in that situation so was thinking...is it a good thing to be friends with one type of people, understand how a certain race or type of people live, what they like etc. and then ultimately get married to a entirely different type of person becasue your parents said so? Agreed arranged marriages are there in india too, but there is not so much of a difference in such cases when the bride and groom are both from India.

Exactly what I was pointing out...

Maybe that is why the second generation has a tough time, with the parents trying to heap 'Indianism' on them (and that too, the India they remember might eb pretty different from the present India), and the peer pressure of the friends they mix with...and this extends to their marriage as well.

I am not trying to say that such marriages might not work, becuase marital relationship is pretty uncertain due to the equations involved and all marriages and relationsips need 'prayer' as Hawaa pointed out and a lot of understanding and adjustment. But to expect them to work just because someone is from your community is a little too far-fetched.

Its not so far fetched... I'm not saying its 100% all marriages are 50-50.. but out here it is just easier when the person your with has a much in common with you.. I know this topic alway brings about distict point of views

.. but in short this site was started becuse i was tired of hearing girls say: there are no good guys in our community ... and guys saying the same... so I did do my Analysis for the market here... I thought It wouldn't hurt if I did some anaysis in Hyderabad itself... but this forum fullhyd is my only accesss..
