didn't expect silk to display such a lack of professionalism

and the best part... the students had no idea what was going on; they were just happy that there was some music!!

so it was nt worth 250 bucks ay?

n how bout mother Jane.....

4 years ago, i think i ranked them the light (not so heavy metal) metal best band to perform at Mood Indigo.

but they had the best covers of Metallica and Maiden that i ever heard a band play.

i am sure they played their fav..,thats if they performed, master of puppets

didn't stay for motherjane

I could be wrong, but I heard they've converted into an Electronic band!! Their metal days are over; that was just to establish themselves.

yea man, me was thr along with HP, AR n BW. also saw CN, Romu thr. whr were ya? saala milta to gore kar deta! been tryin to post here for the past 2 days n everytime the stoopid page freezes! anyway, here goes:

Carpe Diem was pure n utter CRAP! the only pleasant thing for me was the ride to n fro on the Enfield. here's the point by point carp :

1. the parking lot being in another college half a km. away!

2. the multiple-frisking b4 lettin us in. i mean WTF? terrorist samjha kya? these guys could get jobs as Airport Security!

3. no smoking! need i say more? lusars!

4. the whole schedule was changing from person to person. noone knew exactly when one thing would finish n the next one would start!

5. the humongously stoopid DJ n the jumpin jack junta who'd dance to anything wit dhinchuk beats. i mean ever heard dance remixes of Dire Straits? Nirvana? Bryan Adams? n remixes, yes REmixes of Prodigy/Kylie Minogue! wht a crass act man. n to top it all he messed with our aural sensibilities till 10 pm!

6. then, the gates opened for Silk's performance for which we were there. after taking a considerable time arranging everything for the set, they proceeded to cruelly butcher my expectations. wht a lousy performance man. didnt expect this from a band feat. such an ensemble of respected musicians. Shankar Mahadevan was pathetic, tryin so hard to suck up to the crowd who btw, had no idea of wht was goin on. left after 45 mins into Silk's performance. heard they played movie songs incl. a coupla telugu numbers..

tht was my stay at the Carpe Diem. lousy experience.

SILK??

by Kenny » Mon Sep 06, 2004 3:55 pm

Hey Az.. where were you sitting? I was in the 250/- crowd, up front.

Shankar Mahadevan was REALLY pathetic. Remember his 'monitors' thing. Man .... and the worst part is, the crowd appreciated it (in general).

The remixes were disgusting. Me n my friends tried to escape, going into the food stalls only to eat pan and bubblegum flavoured ice cream (yech!! :( ) And ppl were goin crazy with da 'remixes' ... the 'disco' thing was full!

Heard the remix of Careless Whisper? Sounded like an ameteur remix contest!! (was it!?)

Yeah and then there was Sivamani and his egoistic stage manner... overshadows everyone else and NOT with his talent!! Resorted repeatedly to cheap tactics to draw audience's attention. In all that, Louis Banks, Carl Peters, and Sridhar Parthasarthy hardly got to play at all, and the small solo Banks put in on "Urvasi" was sooooo coooooool...... until Shankarji interrupted him (starting off-beat BTW, band had to cover up for him :) )

the list goes on n on...... I hope this post works!!.........

All in all, good effort by CBIT, but Silk sucks.

me n the gang were at the 90/- bucks barricade! then, we saw the dance-thing end n the aaam junta hurryin to catch a glimpse so we took off n sat at the back.

Louis Banks, Carl Peters, and Sridhar Parthasarthy hardly got to play at all, and the small solo Banks put in on "Urvasi" was sooooo coooooool...... until Shankarji interrupted him

yea man, was lookin more like Sivamani n his back-up band! SM was sooo pathetic. "i love u CBIT" chant? *blech*

All in all, good effort by CBIT, but Silk sucks.

however much i'd like to appreciate the organisers, cant get the general shiyat tht happened thr outta my head! better luck nxt time CBITians.

Malakie  dude, me didnt stick arnd to see those guys play. but, from wht ive heard they were the saving-grace of the event. played for some 40 mins which included some originals[reportedly very good] n some covers from Iron Maiden/Metallica. they even played at One Flight Down last nite but i missed tht too. mebbe some other time
