i rode the Enfield Thunderbird once and man i totally loved it.

it was jus plain awesome!!!. There is no other way to describe that! :!: :!: :!:

Got a major kick riding that and people on the road were staring at me - guess they were not used to a girl riding these power monsters!!

haven't tried any other power bikes - unless the kinetic honda, marvel and tvs scooty qualify
the new Enfield mobikes suck...

the older ones from the 60's,70's and 80's way way smoother feel.

the sound of those monsters is amazing.

its a pity that the domes of the Enfield mobikes have been changed.

the domes contributed to the sound and the riding pleasure.

plus the unladen weight of the bike has been cut down

Except the Lightning 535 all the other new models suck.

there are some kids out there who just love their shoguns,RX 100's...makes me wanna barf!!!

Dude, I disagree. Sure, the pleasure of riding the older Enfields is something else, but the new ones aren't bad either. The beat is different too, but that's because the stroke has been shortened over the years.

Also, the older bikes were really high-maintenance, something that would be endured (and even enjoyed) only by a total Enfield enthusiast. The Lightning 535, similarly, is also very high-maintenance.

However, newer bikes like the improved (arguably) standard 350, the Machismo and the Thunderbird have one over the older models in terms of pickup, top speed and maintenance. The Thunderbird and Machismo especially, with their new 5-gear, high-speed engines. They've got the standard gear-brake setting, though, which is something that might cause a true Enfield buff to look at them askance...

I guess this thread would interest me in my present condition :)

Continuing my Karizma vs. Thunderbird dilemma....... from the spec sheets, it appears that both deliver almost identical bhp's (16 vs. 18), but technologically the former seems advanced (digital / microprocessor.....blah blah blah), and i think Karizma's racer bike looks rock (die cast wheels n so on), compared to the legacy looks of machines from the enfield stable. Also, the claimed max speed of 125kmph (Karizma) vs. 100kmph of the Bullets. (dunno if'll touch those speeds :) )

Are there known drawbacks with Karizma due to which it's not worth spending that 20K more? Pls pls........ some one help me, or else I may just live with my Bajaj Cub forever :)

Bajaj Cub to a power bike is quite a leap! Thunderbird is a cruiser wannabe and Karizma is a racer wannabe. I dont know if they can be compared, its just a matter of your preference in features, looks etc.

i dunno abt Karizma's disadvantages, but personally i am not impressed with HH's previous power offering CBZ and this makes me naturally suspicious of Karizma.

anyway, the Cub says u r middle class like me, so y dont u compare the t-bird and karizma on the most 'middle-classy' parameter: fuel efficiency.

At the end of the day, u've gotta pay for the fuel, unless someone else has promised to take care of it!

Dunno bout the Karizma, but the the T-Bird hits 130, no problem. That's courtesy it's high-speed, 5-gear engine. Personally, I'd feel safer doing that speed on an Enfield, because the weight (175 kgs) makes it more stable than most bikes. Dunno how heavy the Karizma is, but, dude, are you sure you want to ride around on a bike with a name like that? ;)

The mileges are identical (40kmpl), so are the transmission (5 gears), weight (150kgs for Karizma)............. The T-bird does have an advantage in terms of the stroke length, which could be due to its higher cc.

Now visually presenting my dilemma, this

or this?

hey Justalil...

my friend faced the same dilemma when he was out to buy his bike!

the Karizma or the Thunderbird.

He finally settled for the Thunderbird.... I helped along a lot in the decision....not that I actually know much abt bikes ... but then I went on test drives with him and thought the Thunderbird was really something!

Justa-ji, from the pictures of the two bikes the choice is clear...THUNDERBIRD It Is...!!!!

In the picture the Karizma looks like a cousin of LML Adreno...and the name itself seems feminine...not suitable for a macho powerbike! well, maybe i was thinking of Karisma Kapoor... :P

well, the older bullets rule! Period.

the newer models DO NOT have the riding pleasure. before the invasion of the 100cc bikes namely the RX 100, the Kawasaki Bajaj 100/125 and the likes...all the older bikes had the gears on the right side and the brake pedal on the left side.

dude i agree that the new bullet is good. but definitely not as good as the older ones!!!

and speakin of the KARIZMA...that bike is fast...u feel the "thrust" every time u shift the gear and twist the throttle

P.S. dunno y i hate the RX 100. but i just do. it sucks!

i luv the KB100 RTZ tho' esp the sexy sound of its revving engine!
