a lot of males in hyderabad and many other places do exactly that...a goup of friends will be in the background egging a boy and he nervously approaches a girl with a goofy grin on his face and say things like "Hello...i want to make friendship with u..."

I don't know akidna but I saw a lot of my friends loosing everything (especially their own self-respect and individuality) because of gals - hence, I made the statement. It may not be true

I think a lot of men in general just assume that they can walk up to some girl and ask for her number, and if they get nothing it means that the girl isn't fast or hep or cool. They assume the girl's the one with a problem, being uptight and all that. To me it's pretty obvious but maybe men don't realise this: when you come up and directly ask for my name or number you seem like a frikkin sleazeball. I don't know who you are or what you do or what your character is like. Why on earth should I have any interest in you? I mean the reason why you apporached me is because I look attractive or like a potential catch or something. But the point is that it's based on appearances. You know nothing about me, you like me at that point for how I look and that's a big downer!

Instead, if you're introduced to me by a friend of mine I might have a tad more curiosity about you, cos someone I trust has partially vouched for your character. You're no longer a random dude. So my advice to guys is to go to a girl through someone you know. My advice to girls, don't get carried away by some stranger being interested in you, it's something that's started off for the wrong reasons, and lastly my advice to friends, if you know a guy's a jerk, please don't mess with your female friend's life by enabling contact between this jerk and her.
