Hey Marko....lets start this weekend itself.......I can gaurantee the presence of atleast 4 people. That would be a decent start by any terms.
IF you wanna go through with it.......call me or Azazel......will PM you the cell-phone numbers.

I repeat .......... if u wanna start the film night from the 13th, call the numbers in your message box.

hi Jasz, good to see ya back on the boards.

this saturday's not good for me, got a few colleagues over from the UK at the moment, they've got plans for tomorrow.

Sunday (14th) would work however. I'll call you later, but this is the last time i'll be logged on today.

The Jackal wrote:My list prolly has to be full of action flicks:
1.The Rock
2.Face/Off
3.Broken Arrow
4.Bad Boys I/II
5.The Jackal
6.Die Hard I/II/III[One of the best action trilogies]
7.Terminator I/II/III[See above]

Since Marko is not Indian and he wants to learn telugu/hindi.... I would suggest few desi flicks like

1. Palnati BrahmaNaidu

2. Narasimha Naidu

3. Samara SimhaReddy

4. Indra

5. Gudumba Shankar

Though the above list may look like names of people wanting to attend the movie night rather than movie titles, they are all golden and diamond jubilee movies.

Soper andi :P

Just my 2 cents.
May the Fries be with you!

CAD....that's not Cinema Paradiso....I'm a member at Priyadarishini at Banjara Hills. They charge 500 bucks non-ref deposit plus 25 bucks per CVD and 50 bucks per DVD as rentals.

Cinema Paradiso charges 3500 (part-refundable) deposit and 75 bucks per DVD...the rentals are for 3 days for older movies while for new movies, its for a day.

Man priyadarshini sucks. It used to be the best 2-3 yrs ago but all they have now are crappy camera print DVD's.I dont know why I still keep on going there even after knowing that they have crappy ones. This guy charges Rs.50 per night for a new movie.Do you know how much he gets these movies for?Rs.100.  I went to Babu Khan Estate one day and found out the prices. :D :D

Oh and CAD I went to Cinema Paradiso and found out the rates 1 yr ago, dunno whether they have changed or not but here are the rates.Rs.2000 for the initial instalment then its Rs.75 for every time period. And these time periods vary. For a new movie its 1 day,1yr plus movie its 3 days and there is a 5 day period for relatively old movies. And its like the states, they calculate the time and if you are late then they charge you for the extra day.  Its Hyderabad for god sake, people are always late.I didnt take it because I used to goto babukhan estate like every month and get the movies I wanna see. These guys charge Rs.75/night.There I get it for Rs.110/for ever and these are not those camera prints, they are those written DVD's from the original dvd's. :D :D

*Whistles*

Man these are some hefty rates or what.During my college days,we used to rent the latest Flix at Rs 10 per CD or Rs 20 per DVD.Altough the quality was a bit of a downer it was still manageable. And we also used to get a discount of 20% for more than 10 VCD's/DVD's.We used to bring in Hindi movie VCD's (Which were mostly smuggled frm Thailand or Malaysia) & English Movie DVD's (Mostly the Bond Franchise & other Hits that were released as DVD's in India) The 'Clean' Shows used to run till 12 Midnight And after that our 'in-house' Library would take over.

In case of Original VCD's we used to pay Rs 20 for a 6 month old movie or Rs 15 for an even older movie.

P.S:These rates were not in AP,but in Orissa.

Camera prints suck. Even at priyadarshini, I make sure I'm getting a good print or else I don't pay.

Hey Marko, you seem real serious about the film-nite... well, i thought i'd answer to this thread after a while, but heck!

A bunch of us college guys got together one sat nite around 2 weeks back and organised some sort of Movie Marathon! Like there were 14-15 of us (incl a few from the FHDB's too) in an empty apartment watching movies projected onto the wall. It was great. we started around at 2300 hr and went upto 0530 in the morning. We saw City of God (Brazil), TrainSpotting and finally a bit of Akiro Kurosawa's Ran ... after which i crashed!

Now after around Nov or early Dec we (college guys) will b free again. So probly around at that time we cd try this out again... what say? I mean, i'll b definetly getting junta over !

ok things are getting confused now. Let's say we go for saturday next week, people so far confirmed are Az, CAD, HP, and BW, right? I'll pm you guys my address and phone. we can agree on time and movie later on in the week.

Jasz, get in touch if you can make it then and sorry that i couldnt organise one this weekend.

CrackedNut, hopefully this'll go well and i'll make a reasonable regular thing of it

I've got a fair few dvd's out with me, i was thinking of starting off with the dollars trilogy. probably try to organise the first on on the weekend after deepawali.

Normally, I'd be too lazy to get off my butt and come over to your place. But man, Dollars Trilogy on a big screen? Wouldn't miss that. Me stay at Gachibowli, so no probs with any timings. Count me in.

pity that the biggest film buff Jasz is not in town these days...else not even wild horses can keep him away!

in another thread HP has suggested Dec 4th (saturday) for the next FHDB meet. i suggest we meet at Eat Street as decided and then see if we can go to Marko's place for the film night!

Jaszalcatraz - from another thread wrote:There are 2 more hours for the weekend to begin. I was hoping Az would take me to Mark's place but that dude is in love, he aint got the time. Now I have to wait for PSD to come back home or wait for CrackedNut to call me later.

I'm not sure if they know Mark's house. I hope they do. All i've done the last one month is dream about coming back to Hyd and participating in the Film Night idea that was floating around when I left.

This reminds me HP i still have your VCDs, give me a shout over the weekend if ya want me to drop them somewhere.

Jasz, PSD was in my place, CrackedNut hasn't been. everyone on the board is more than welcome anytime though.
