Who holds the record for having scored the maximum number of goals in a single field hockey international match? There was something else very special about this match. Can you name the player and the associated trivia?
Hint : The goalscorer in question is not the player who is associated with the trivia.
Dhyan chand in India vs Germany (?) - The total score was 24 - 0. Dhyan chand scored 16 and his brother scored 8 goals. Its the worst drubbing any team got in the history of Hockey.
It was India v/s USA in the 1936 Olympics. India beat them 24-0. You got the names mixed up though MM....Dhyan Chand scored 8 goals in that match and his brother, Roop Singh scored 12.
The trivia associated with this match is that after the match, the US players lodged a complaint with the organisers saying that Dhyan Chand's (hockey) stick was doctored. This was properly investigated and the wizard was absolved of all charges.
Incidentally, it was during the 36 Olympics that Hitler offered Dhyan Chand the post of a Marshal in the German Army, which was politely refused by the great man.
