coping with addiction

i've spent the last 3 hours watching the clock tick slowly towards 6pm, dying to be out of this office and home, so i can get my fix.



I am fiending for mangos. I can't get enough of them. so sweet and delicious and juicy. I ate 8 of them on Sunday, I would have had more but i ran out.



So anyway, some quick questions on my favourite fruit.



I like my mangos to be not too sweet, quite hard and tangy, the more tangy the better. where is the best place in town, and what do i ask for (last time he gave me "Full sweet" ones, they weren't sour enough for me. Sour isn't really what i mean, just sort of sweet with a bite, you know?

i think u'd enjoy the "Totapuri" and "Choosnewala" varieties....:P



to get the best mangoes, in big quantities, go to thw Fruit Market at Kothapet near Dilshuknagar...at the other distant end of town....

I love Mangoes..infact i eat em all thruout the year..**ahem..dal,pickles! :P**

If u like em sweet try "Bangenipalli" variety..If not so sweet not so sour..then those mentioned by CAD would do...

My family never lets me buy mangoes for them, because I always buy the stiff and tangy ones :P.



Try to get Totapari. If you eat a lot (3-4 of them) you will get a tummy ache, and they generally always have a bug (a very icky one at that) in them. but they are addicting, and Hyd is one of the few places where you can get totapari almost throughout mango season.

for mark's benefit...Totapari is a green semi-ripened, elongated mango with a small beak like turn at one end. its sliced, sprinkled with salt-chilli powder mix and eaten...

Totapari mangoes.

We live near the fruit market and used to buy kaccha mangoes in the 100's at a very cheap price. We then put them in a big box with dry grass and carbide so that they ripen in two days. Man I miss those days... its been three years since I ate my favourite fruit :(

While I was there, I had totapari kairi slathered with kaali churan (the sourest Ive ever tasted!) Very delicious and very addictive, but the stomach-ache that followed basically had me quit cold turkey. :(



Ahem. However, I bought back a kilo of kaali churan with me cuz my sibs love sour stuff too! :P
