Fata fat food.

by Mayavi Morpheus » Sat Oct 18, 2003 1:33 pm

Hmmm.... Bachelors life is very tough, especially if you don\'t know how to cook. We have so many fast food joints in Hyderabad that dish out delicious food. My mouth waters everytime I think of it. I was never able to replicate the taste at home. So, guys post some recipes of fast food. Pav bhaji, cutlet, upma...

Upma is easy. A glass of rava (sooji) and a glass of water are the main components. Of couse you need to do seasoning in the beginning with oil (feel free to add as much as you want - for we are not gals watching our weight :-)), mustard, cut onions, green chillies, cashews (optional) etc. Once seasoning is done (you\'ll know it\'s done when all the noise and commotion resembling a nuclear chain reaction stops), pour the glass of water and let it boil. Once you see steam rising, pour the glass of rava while stirring the water in the container (which means you need to keep the stirring spoon ready in one hand while the other pours the rava into the water). Once the pouring and stirring is done, your upma is more or less ready. Just close the container and wait for a few minutes (I know it\'s difficult as you may be half dead out of hunger). After subjecting your patience to litmus test, you can open the container and serve yourself a tasty and delicious upma. Ketchup or pickle would go well with it, as you may not have the time to make chutney or sambhar. The same procedure can be used to make vermicelli upma by using vermicelli instead of rava.

Of course, you need to add half (or more if required) a teaspoon of table salt before pouring the rava into the water, which I forgot to mention (and which I forget to add at times ;-)).
