1) Hyderabad rocks are 2.5 billion years old(2500 million) years



2) Aurengazeb army had to wait for 8 months outside the Golconda fort

before capturing it. He was forced to bribe to capture it.



3) The HATHYAN TREE in golconda fort complex is the oldest in the world.



4) There was a lady love for the fouder king of Hyderabad. Her name was Bhagmati not Bhagyamati. 5) The Qutub sahi king Abdulla never met his father(who was also a king) up to 12 years of his age.



6) The famous Kohinoor diamond was taken from Kollur mines during Qutub sahi period.



7) Mecca masjid took 77 years to get completed of its constructions.



8) The british resident (who married a Indian princess) Kirk Partick - RESIDENT-(1798-1805) died at earlier age of 43 years out of Sexually trasmitted disease.



9) In olden days there existed a street called URINE STREET called Muthra gali near present day Salar jung museum.



10) One earlier nizam (we dont know the No) meets the subjects. If he say to a subject your wrist watch is wonderful, then the subject has to present the watch to the Nizam.If Nizam says your house is wonderful , the house will reach Nizam as a gift. The Nizam used to say your wife is beutiful. the the lady will be Nizam's.



11) Sir Ronald Ross the great British doctor invented the Plasmodium at Begumpet.He had to give money(bribe) to his patients (Rs 1 per patient) for testing purpose. In those days Rs1 used to be fairly good amount. He used to call the patients and ask them get covered by a wet blaket so that mosquitoes bite the test subjects, so then research continues.



12) The dining hall in the famous Falaknuma palace was open only to governer generals. It was not even opened for Sri Jawaharlal Nehru.



13) AP Tourism still lies that Falaknuma palace is a tourist spot. But it is not so. It has been taken up by Taj group.



14) One of the tomb at mecca masjid,belongs to that of Mr Mehbhub khan.

The tomb is beleived to give cure to snake bite victims.Still people from villages come there and say thanks.



15) the qutub sahi king who built Mecca masjid was very pious. He maintained 'the daily 5 islamic prayers' continuously for 14 years without a single break.



16) Hussain sagar lake was initially called Ibrahim lake with the forceful orders by the king Ibrahim who ruled during that time. But people never forget the famous Iranian engineer who built it.They started calling the lake as Hussain sagar which still now continues.His tomb is in Bombay road.

I think this exists even today... try walking from the Fantoosh/ Minerva Coffee House junction towards the museum... and you'll find that the M. gali is not near the museum... the museum is on that very road.

the M.gali shud be called the what a relief street.

1)The Nijam Kings had a peculiar habit of taking money from their subjects. During the day of ID and Nijams birth day The Nobles and subjects have to compulsarily meet the Nizam in palaces. During that period King used to get compulsory donation from the subjects. In those days an amount of Rs25 was collected from the subjects.



2) This lead to large amount of resentment among public. The British resident protested this. Finally this system was stopped.



3)The people were forcebly told to buy from special markets( Bazaars) at king koti. King koti used to be the residence of Nizam kings.The huge profits naturally went to the palace. State sponsored extortions.



4) The 7 th Nizam had the peculiar desire. He told his wishes that his tomb will be next to that of his mother. So even now a days you cant see the tomb of 7 th Nizam in Mecca masjid.All previous nizam's tombs lie in Mecca Masjid.



5)Mecca masjis is the 2nd largest masjid in India. 7th largest Masjid in the world.



5) After India's independence Nizam wanted to become a free state. During that time in Hyderabad kingdom had 12% Muslims AND 88% were Non Muslims.



6) Mr Menon The Indian Government representative/Agent called for all 'Princeley states kings conference' at Delhi.



7) The Seventh Nizam was so much of simple type person, that he used the same pyjama for the conference in which he slept in previous night. Nijam's ADC reminded him that the pyjama was not fresh enough. Nijam said its ok.



8) Nizam 7th did not accept for union with Indian government.



9) Delhi decided to use force. Delhi had planned that it will take 4 months to capture Hyderabad state.



10) The forces led by Gen Choudhry captured Hyderabad state in 96 Hrs.

There came the end to the great Qutub sahi dynasty which supported Telugu poetry also.



11) Even after the capture, Gen Choudhry treated Nizam the 7th very decently. It is beleived that 7th Nizam got pension up to his death.



12) For Namesake 8th Nizam was throned. 8th Nizam's marriage took place ceremoniously.

Yeah, and after marriage she was rechristened 'Hydera Begum' ... thats where, i think, Hyderabad got its name from. Not sure :lol:



You should try the light and sound show at Golkonda, I htink thats where i got that from :D

I got a lot of these facts there too... not stuff about the M. gali etc... but a lot of other history!
