Cool features!

by fullhyd.com » Tue Feb 03, 2004 10:56 am

Hi everybody,

The fullhyd.com discussion forums have several interesting features that you might not be aware of or have tried yet:

1. It's a good idea to login as soon as you enter (preferably, check the "Log me in automatically" button if you are working on a private access computer, so that the hassle isn't there at all), so that the forums know who you are. That sets off lots of things in place:

a. All forums/topics with posts since your last visit will appear with an orange-colored icon.

b. A link called "View posts since last visit" will appear on the main page (and on every page) at the top, which will enable you to view just the topics with posts since your last visit, in reverse chronologocal order (this is pretty similar to the earlier fullhyd.com discussion boards format, for those who were comfortable with that).

c. A link called "View your posts" also appears at the top of every page.

d. Every topic that you click on to browse will come with a link at the bottom called "Watch this topic". If you click that, then if there are new posts in that topic, you will receive an email notifying you. This is always recommended when you create a topic yourself, so that even if you forget it, we remind you.

2. We allow you to keep your identity anonymous, if you choose to. Whenever you are posting on or creating a topic, just check the option called "Keep my identity hidden for this post..." that appears on the same page that you are typing your post on.

3. You can create a detailed profile to help other users know more about you. If you haven't done it already, please first set your profile by clicking on the profile link on top and setting various personal options. You'll be surprised how many things you can do.

a. To make your presence much more lively, set yourself an avatar (we provide a gallery for you to choose from with hundreds of cute and creative icons, and you can upload your own icons, too).

b. To let other registered users write to you directly, set your email address, too. By default this is the address you used to sign up. If your email has changed, please update this. Your email address will never appear anywhere, of course - not even in a hyperlink.

c. Type in your occupation and interests, so other people with similar interests can connect to you.

d. Set yourself a signature - your address, lines from your favorite song, a quote you love etc. Signatures, avatars, links for personnal messages, links for email etc. will not appear when you choose to keep your identity anonymous for a post.

4. You can send and receive personal messages (PMs), a good way of reaching specific users personally when relevant. If someone is abusing this feature, please let us know, and we'll ban him/her immediately.

5. You can search the forums - either by name or by words in a post or by topics. Please use the "Search" link on top.

6. You can add polls whenever you create topics.

7. You can, of course, format your posts.

If you want help from the moderators, just write to us. We usually do what you ask of us, rather than say why we are so sorry we can't. So if you want a topic to be turned sticky (okay, this has to be when it is really important - like blood needed to save someone's life), or if you want your identity to be turned anonymous for a post since you forgot to do it yourself, or if you want to start a group etc., just write to us. We always reply, but unless it is something personal, please use the forum for feedback and suggestions to ask anything of us. We check that regularly, and always respond in good time.

It might not be fruitful to write to us to provide details of places in town that do this or that - whatever we have is already on fullhyd.com, and the site has a powerful search.

Thank you for using fullhyd.com!

Lots of luv,

The fullhyd.com Team
