Hey Nidhi, did a summer internship in B\'lore for two months, and spent about 14k for that (7k pm), inclusive of PG acco, food and transport. Dunno about cost of education, though. Okay, so may be my lifestyle wasn\'t as frugal as it possibly could be, but I think that\'s still a decent estimate :).

I think Vrinda or Srinu, I am not sure, are either from Bangalore or do frequently visit there. They might be some help - hey where are you guys?

Well, this Hyderabadi recently moved to the garden city. So hope to be of some service :). Bangalore rents are definitely higher. But again depends on where you stay. Schools/colleges - no idea. Groceries and stuff... I somehow feel Bangalore is cheaper when it comes to food. Transportation - it\'s something between Hyderabad and Mmumbai - long journeys and lots of traffic. Any specific questions and I will try to answer.

Hi! B\'lore is a cool place in terms of weather. It\'s really happening. Education is pretty expensive if you compare it to Hyderabad\'s. Food... can\'t expect too much. Non-tecnical education is good, but Andhra stands out in tech \'edu\'. For people looking for software jobs, B\'lore is promising. Transportation is good. You don\'t have to jump off a moving bus or hop on to a moving bus like it\'s done in Hyderabad. Discothques, bars, pubs, cafes, fast food joints, are all good. (soory for using the word \'good\' so many times). Tt\'s very westernised compared to Hyderabad. In Hyderabad you\'ll have to look for specific streets or hangouts in order to experience the west. But in B\'lore it\'s there everywhere(except in the slums of course, & in some places near the city market). If you are planning to go there, I\'d say you are making no mistake. Hope I was of some help.

Srinu, thanks a lot. I now got some idea about the place. I am looking for rents, food transportation (bus, auto, taxi, etc) and education. what would be the rent for a 2 BedRoom and 1 BR flat?

Sunny, Srinu - your info was very encouraging to me. I was really hesitating to move to B\'lore for my further studies and job. I heard about the western culture there and my parents were a little bit scared of that and the cost of living. But from what you guys said, I felt that it\'s an ideal place to look for job. So, studies are expensive. We gotta think about it.

Anyhow Sunny, thanks a lot once again.

A single bedroom (an average one) apartment would cost you something between 1500-4000 (depending on where you stay). A double bedroom can cost you someting between 2500-6000 (again depending on where you stay :)). Finding a place shouldn\'t be a prob. Realtors here charge about a month\'s rent to find you a place of your choice. It\'s important to decide which area you want to stay in, though.

Thanks Srinu. May be an accomodation somewhere in the outskirts will do and I feel good that a person with 10-15k can live atleast on the outskirts in a city like B\'lore.

No problemo! But what I did when I moved here a couple of months back was to scour mags like \"Free Ads\" and \"Ad-Mag\" (assuming you got friends or relatives to stay with for a couple of weeks). These carry the most number of rental ads including brokers. So, good luck and happy house hunting.
