\"When you repress something, you become obsessed with it\" - this was said by the great sex Guru Osho. Just wanted to share it with you guys, \'cos I feel it is so true.

Sunny, have you seen the movie sex guru? It's very nice, about an indian who always keeps dreaming of America, but after he comes here he becomes a popular sex guru!!

Sunny, glad to know that you at least know where to start with. That\'s like winning half the battle! As for the hard work, well, there\'s no escaping from that. Best Wishes!
To get into bioinformatics, the basic mantra is one should have strong backing one of the two fields and a basic knowledge in another. The two subjects, of course, are Molecular Biology/Molecular Genetics and Computer Science. Or a professional degree in medicine or veterinary science (MBBS or BVSc) or computer science (BTech) is also good. A word of caution, don\'t just join any of those mushrooming bioinformatics institutes. Most of them are no good (I have been to at least 3 of them in Hyderabad, when I last visited). Since, you said your sister was contemplating to join MBBS, I guess, she has just finished Intermediate (BPC). It’s not a good idea or a wise step to join a bioinformatics course with the knowledge of biology one gets in the intermediate. The best thing would be to join a degree course with MolBiology/MolGenetics or Biotechnology. Then she can join Masters/Diploma in Bioinformatics. As far as I know, the Pune one or the Madurai Kamraj one is good (it’s difficult to get a seat there but not impossible). So, is the bioinformatics offered as one of the option at BSc level? I don’t think many of our Universities have the infrastructure or the faculty required for it. The CDFD, CCMB Hyderabad center seemed to be pretty good.

As for the future, I am not very sure in India but in USA, it’s a promising field for at least 12 more years. What we have finished is just sequencing the human genome. The proteins are not yet identified. And only about 4000 disease-gene associations have been well-established so far. We still have a long way to go. If you are wondering, on what basis I am saying all this I have been in this field for the last 3 years after studying in England. My research primarily dwells on gene regulation.

OK, coming to a lighter discussion, Hulk was for kids mainly, that too American kids. As X-men or Daredevil or Spiderman, it is also based on a comic book. Yeah, I agree, the SFX were far from expected and were actually shoddy.

Hey man... thanx for all the guidance. My sis just changed her mind and she is bent on doing MBBS. There\'s a Govt organisation called Bioinformatics Institute of India (BII). What about that? Guess it\'s gonna be good?! It has branches all over India.

So.... you\'ve been into genetics and stuff, ha!?! Guess you would have enjoyed The Hulk (especially the starting). BTW, did you see \'Jhankaar Beats\'? Watch it man, it\'s really worth watching. Aw\'righty man... catch ya later.

Pavani, yes i\'ve seen \'The Guru\'... Pretty good.

I am very much here! Thanks a lot B. And a very happy, though very belated GC (I presume, you meant Ganesh Chaturthi or is it something else?) to you too. Yeah, I am sort of neck-deep in my research - too many things going on simultaneously. Working my a** off. Nevertheless, I do keep visiting this site.

Nice people. I liked this post. People here didn\'t over react (even if they did, they are right back on track). But somewhere, someone was harsh on a girl and that sounded gay. Just kidding ;). Anyways, I took the pain in reading all that above and didn\'t feel that I wasted my time. I am confused with the names but for whoever asked \'how to improve vocab\', I just thought that these boards are one useful place to use your new words and talk about them. But, I hate writing, though. Don\'t think that words are important alone. Many people like it when a sentence is in simple English, well structured and conveys exactly the meaning you want to convey. My managers use very less words and even words like \'I, you, it\' sound very powerful when they use them.

And about that html images stuff, the moderator should have been smart enough to post something wrong (by manipulating the correct one) and mess with the people here instead of deleting the post. Hehe.

Adios.

Anil, where\'ve you been man? I thought you switched to some other login name. Anyways, good to have you back. I guess you need to chill your a** on a hard day by logging on to this site.

And Poiuy welcome to this board. I don\'t agree with you, man. Like I\'ve said before, it\'s not just about communication but the elegance in it. Have you seen any interviews with the renowned writer Arundathi Roy? You seriously need to watch it then u\'ll know what eloquence is all about. Besides I wouldn\'t have started this board if it weren\'t for Mr.Anil\'s inspiring ways of expression.
