Compared to other countries of the world, India has too many holidays including various religious festivals, birthdays, regular holidays, curfews, bands, strikes, etc., etc. Already we have a drowsy staff in govt. departments plus these holidays! Do you think this will effect our nation\'s progress?

What do you mean will it affect nation\'s progress? It has and it will continue to as long as we have so many holidays. Holidays, strikes and the work ethics of our government employees are the primary reasons for the slow growth we have achieved since independence. Whatever progress we have made so far is due to the committed and dedicated workforce in the private sector. About time we prune the overstaffed government bodies, got rid of the deadwood and made these institutions lean and mean. A government job is taken for granted. Without the fear of being fired and accountability. A government employee just takes it easy and bides his time until retirement. Guaranteed annual increases, promotions without productivity or progress at work... holidays at the drop of a hat, strikes, elections, cricket matches, casual leave, sick leave, annual leave, authorized leave, unathorized leave, marriage leave, death leave, delivery leave lolz... rofl! Man, tell you what, the coolest thing in India is to have a government job! I need to find me one! PLEASE HELP!
