Sunil, the answer is yes and no. It mainly depends on where you are and what branch and how much funding your department gets. Techincally and legally speaking you are not supposed to work anywhere that\'s considered as off-campus. But, most of the students do take up odd jobs at restaraunts, gas stations, grocery stores, etc. It also depends on the place/city. Don\'t go for California or NewYork if you don\'t have any funding. Its just too expensive. More on jobs, majority of students get jobs on campus (in departments, dorms, etc). The pay can be anything from $6 to $12 per hour. During the term you can work for 20 hrs per week and during vacation, you can work for 40 hours. Bottom line, choose your University very carefully, especially if you are hard on personal funding. As to getting aid, the recent economic situation is not at all helping. Several Universities and the departments have lost their funding. So, not really rosy as it used to be!

I am assuming that you were referring to Masters in USA. However, if you intend to proceed to England, getting a part-time job is almost impossible. Its relatively more expensive. The only good thing is the Masters in England is of 1 year duration only. You can finish it and then try moving to USA.
