If I follow ur assumption of cooling water, I can do it using liquid helium and dry ice, but that only cause harm to us and even we may die!

I thought u people will give me some good reasons, like we can earthen the pot in some wet land, this may increase the cooling of the water.

By the way do anyone know why the water in a clay pot is cooler than the water stored in some metal containers.

I have found that just keeping the water in an open (meaning without a lid) container helps cool it down pretty fast. If you want faster results, try keeping the container under a fan.

Reason why water gets cooled in a clay pot
- The natural phenomenon of water is to get evaporated when stored in a place, and the clay pot itself being porous increases the chance of evaporation. The water to get evaporated needs some \"energy\" (some heat), which it gets from the water itself. Thus during this process the heat in the water is used for evaporation and it gets cooled by itself. Hope you got the answer!!!

the process is called Pervaporization = permeation+vaporization :-) one of the imp filteration techniques used in chemical industries.

Also we can keep some soil beneath the pot, this is another technique for cooling water for some extent.

Hey guys, the best I found was in Maharashtra they use thick black earthen containers called Ranjan that are placed under cool shaded trees.
