How many small town girls from rural India reached for the stars? (pun unintended) For that matter how many city bred Indian girls have made a mark for themselves worldwide?? In a country starved of shining female idols, Kalpana Chawala\'s name will be etched in the minds of many a ambitious girl. She deserved the attention in the sense that she\'s become an inspiration for many.

Very interesting topic. As far as I am concerned, She is a good sceintist. And she deserves as much respect as any other members of the ill fated shuttle.

I can\'t understand why all the media and Government are making her an Indian space heroine. Why should we take pride in some body else\'s acheivements. She is an American citizen. She is working for America.

Guys, in this country. Bill Clinton is more popular that Atal or Rajiv or any leader....Bill Gates is popular than Ambani or Ratan Tata.....NASA is popular than ISRO and DRDO.....Michael Jackson etc than Burmans (?) ....money rules man.....every tom, _ and harry with an western touch becomes famous in this land.........theres an exception though...Sachin Tendulkar moer famous than Agassi or Beckham etc!!
